    I watched this the other day. How much does the average dyno tune cost? I doubt there's anywhere around me that would do it (I live in bfe)...

    Dyno tuning can be hundreds if not thousands of $. But before you decide the cheap guy is just as capable as the $$$ guy, decisions like that keep others at the forum entertained with the my heads melted threads, or I have a hole in my piston due to detonation.

    So choose wisely. And remember, it's not what it did on the dyno that's impressive. It's what it can do day after day after day without grenading. Ever.

    These Vids are well done.

    He has done another one where he compares the stock viper before tune, to other modern cars to see how it fares. Pretty awesome results!

    An advantage of HP Tuners with Gen2 and Gen3 Vipers is the cost, 1 credit. The same as other Chrysler products with the JTEC+ engine controller.

    A disadvantage is you have to connect to their sever to gain permission to reflash the controller, every time. So if the sever is down, or they go out of business, you're out of luck.

    Seems like there's some stuff going on in the background (I'm guessing EPA driven) that they aren't being very forthcoming about. The "internet connection required" thing is fairly new, and they've also apparently been removing the ability to edit some of the emissions related parameters.

    Some nice tuning results! To be honest, I was surprised by the baseline numbers (but we all know how dyno's differ).

    Another pro of the HP Tuners system is their logging feature. It allows you to view what's going on throughout the RPM range of both inputs (MAP, TPS, etc) and outputs (fuel, spark, etc). These can be charts or graphs and can be cut and pasted back and forth between a spreadsheet like Excel for manipulation.

    And if you add the pro feature set, you can attach a wide band O2 so you can graph A/F ratio over RPM.

    SCT allows the same thing IRT logging, overlays, wideband 02 incorporation and so forth.
