Just for reference, I've raced three different ones now from a roll at the track. 40 and 60 rolls up to 150ish. I only lost two, one because he jumped and the other I missed 3rd. On paper and what I saw in magazines say the gt500 should have pulled but my stock viper also usually traps 131-132 in crappy air. So honestly I'd say drivers race from a roll

If you want to mod it, you can make 850-900 rwhp easy. In stock form it runs mid 10s at over 130, so faster than a gen 5 viper. +1 on the GT500. Get that flat plane crank. The exhaust note is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

I rolled a Tesla. Don't know exactly which model it was. We were neck-n-neck for a short spell before I started to pull away. Then he lifted off.
Smart on his part considering he'd eventually need to stop 6000+lbs. !!

Subjective. I think they sound terrible. Way too raspy.

As for sound, give me an old school Fox 5.0 with a set of Flowmasters.

I'm not a Mustang nerd by any stretch, but I think the GT350 is the NA 8250rpm FPC and the GT500 is the supercharged 7500rpm, CPC. Both are 5.2L, but not sure if they're similar engines.

    ^^^ I like this idea.

Demon is cool for sure, but no where near as cool as a Gen V Viper. No even close.

You are correct. The GT350 used the flat plane crank, like the upcoming Z06, and the GT500 uses a conventional cross plane crank. Both have 5.2 liters and the GT500 has the beefed up forged internals for a supercharged application.

Hopefully my next acquisition....there are next to no allocations in the entire country due to the "chip shortage". There is nothing on the lots...not even the base 911's. They're not even giving delivery dates, but will gladly take a deposit.

Now is not the time to be anxious to get into a new car. Best to ride out the next 18-24 months with what you got and find some other hobbies to occupy your attention until then.

Auto swap would be to put in maybe the ZF8 automatic in it.

    Me neither. Obviously
Regardless, IMHO they both sound fantastic.

Thanks guys for correcting the record.

Fingers crossed the FPC will fix the exhaust note in the C8 Z06. But if anybody could screw it up, leave it up to GM to find a way.

With you issues, the Demon would be hard to beat ...

    Fast, comfy and rare ...

Would have bought a new one if I had more brains ...

Have you considered a CTS-V (or whatever it's called now)? If you're going with a 4 door, might as well get the luxury! Plus, that LT4 can take a lot of boost. Or you can get the new blackwing or whatever it is.

^^^ Yeah, so many good options these days in comfortable cars. Buddy of mine just took delivery of a Tesla Plaid and he says it is simply unbelievable. He loves the reactions from passengers the first time he hits it. It is apparently mind bending all the way up to its top end. I'm eagerly awaiting my test drive

Everyone mentioning the GT500 in this thread, do you even drive around corners? 3970lbs and you can really feel the extra weight in the turns vs a Viper that is 600 lbs lighter and 50/50 weight balanced. I know the GT500 does well on the road coarse but you are really using the high hp to make up the lap time on the straightaways.

Demon vs Viper? How is this a question comparing a muscle car/land yacht to a lightweight sports car almost 1000lbs lighter. Completely different weapons for different fights. The GT500 would fit somewhere in the middle between those 2 in terms of purpose.

oh auto-swap...I understand now but Id rather some one else enjoy this car before doing that.....BMW m-8 is really nice 670 hp and great looking especially the vert!

Some one said at least I got to enjoy a snake...true that...ive had 12...all Gens and whenever I make a swap for another brand I always go back to Viper...like I said I do alright with it but can see the writing on the wall...Clint Eastwood said"a mans got to know his limitations"!My track days are over so im just profiling just thinking to let it go so somebody can enjoy it as much as I have...the Stryker colors are amazing and especially purple !!!!

I’m sure you will have no problem selling that beauty if/when the time comes. I have a Challenger Red Eye that I drive often with the family and while it isn’t a Viper, it is beyond comfortable and crazy fun with the power it makes.

There are only two reasons to get rid of a Viper in my opinion:

    1. A crazy amount of money much more than the actual value of the car
    2. A 2005-2006 Ford GT

Dodge Demon's don't really turn heads. Our cars do.

I also don't see a demon aging as well as the Viper. Viper to me has timeless lines that will age very well. Sharp angles and cuts don't age well. Soft curves + aggressive styling like the WS6, F430/360, Supra, most Porsche 911s, etc age well. Plus it has a "I had a poster of it on my wall when I was 9" type following + the whole ability to make 2000hp relatively easily thing working for it.

And rarity. I get the demons aren't that rare, but they look just like a very very very mass produced car. You can't buy a used V6 Viper for $15k.

Have you driven a MY20+ on the track? I was pretty impressed.

Demons are cool but they made 3000 for the US market. The current Super Stock is a lot more rare, only a couple hundred a year are made, and it has the Demon engine. I think this will cut into the Demon values. I know it was cool with the crate and all but the Super Stock is a road/track going Demon while the Demon was promoted as a factory drag car but not much else. There will never be another N/A V10 Viper with side pipes and manual trans. If you have one, keep it as long as you can. The Demon/Super Stock can be driven more easily on a daily basis and its more comfortable, but a big, heavy car will be. I drive my GT500 way more than the Viper for that reason. Its kind of the best of both but blends in with traffic a lot more easily than a red Viper does. I like its subtlety along with its brute force. In the long run, the Vipers will be worth more than any Demon. Current values reflect this.
