At the All Access deal where we test drove the Gen 5's, I was shocked (impressed actually) at how light the rear hatch was. In fact, with the hatch open I grabbed each side and was able to move each corner up and down and wiggle it effortlessly. Now I don't want to alarm any Gen 5 owners that "tested" their rear defroster with no problems, but as flexible as that hatch is, I'd be a little concerned about future issues with the carbon fiber possible getting shorted out as things move around and wear with time.
The right thing for Chrysler to do is send a letter out to each Gen 5 owner of the affected VIN's and have them come in for the update. Why take a chance on future issues and not gain some good PR from existing owners now??
