    Alarm Issue After Driving

I have had an issue with the alarm since I got my car last year. I've been putting up with it since I don't drive my Viper every day, but it got annoying this past weekend when I took it on a road trip. Whenever I'm done driving the car if I just lock and arm the alarm it will go off within a half hour. The only way I've found to stop it is if I pop the hood and close it back before arming the alarm. If I do that then it stays off. I have adjusted the bump stop by the pressure button a few times to see if maybe the hood wasn't making enough contact, but that doesn't seem to change anything. Anyone have other ideas? Thanks!

1996 GTS? Year / Model Matters

    >Do the door-lock LEDs stay lit beyond 60 seconds after you set the alarm?

    >Or do they stay lit all the time?

    >When you dis-arm after an alarm event, how many times does the horn honk?

It's a 96 GTS. I'll have to check how long the door-lock LEDs stay on after setting the alarm (how long should if be?). I haven't had the alarm go off for a while since I found my hood pop work around, but I want to say the horn honks twice after stopping it. I should also mention that after opening/closing the hood and setting the alarm, the car will honk once then again maybe 10 seconds later and the light on the dash pulses red.

If the LEDs stay on beyond approx 60 seconds, they indicate that one of 4 circuits is OPEN:

Hood, Hatch, LH Door, RH Door.

If the alarm sounds anytime after arming, it sets a memory code for horn honks upon disarming.
2 honks is hood! But you know that. The cooling underhood makes it likely as well.

Reset and tighten that hood plunger higher.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to adjust my hood switch any higher. Without breaking it, I've tried everything. It has always had about 1/2" gap to the hood subframe.

    Replace the hood switch.

If it honks 3 times upon disarming/unlocking...it is telling you that it thinks an intrusion/attempted theft has occurred.
