Ran in Shift Sector's Airstrip Attack half mile event this weekend. I ran around 17 runs on Saturday, many back to back to back. Beat the hell out of the motor. Did not use one drop of oil. Ran great, no issues. I did knock off the cats and catbacks, and ran 3" straight pipes. This motor is a BEAST.
I had an old set of (3 years old?) Mich Pilot Super Sports. They used to run great on the stock engine. They are in no way able to hold the power on this new Calvo heads and cam motor. Best run of the weekend was 162.45mph. My 1/8 mile was horrible, the car would spin in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, so I was just not getting the power down. Still won my class...
Debating putting on some Nitto 555Rs that a buddy has that are 305/35/19 that are less than a year old, climate control storage and less than 100 miles on them, and go run Texas Mile in a couple of weeks. He said they are brand new and have never been heat cycled.
Final race. The guy in the vette and I had been trading back and forth all day. His best was 161.86, but like I said, I could not get the car to hook up. He gets me out of the hole big time. I start reeling him in, and he blew a head gasket. (His car overheated while staged. I volunteered to move out and go to the back of staging to give him time to cool off, as I did not want to win by default.)
