    Race vs street shock setting

Hello everyone. So I recently installed the diffuser on the car. I noticed some skidding (which I know it’s designed to do). My question is if running race shock tuning instead of street, would the car theoretically have a less chance from hitting the strakes? Also is there any negative to running the race setup all the time. Thanks.

The only shock adjustment to remedy that is to tighten up the rear spring perches. This adds a little ride height until it gets tolerable. Check out the suspension thread for tips on keeping the chassis rake in balance.

    Hello AAA96.
There is nothing critically wrong with running race setup on the street other then comfort and possibly tire wear ( assuming DOT tires???) depending on setup. The car may also be very, very loose and also pushy in the rain with race setup ( unless you started with a rain race setup). Race setup on the street will beat the car up just a little more then track. The street is far more abusive to the suspension then a track reason being there are no pot holes, trench plate, huge bumps or 6 inch curbs at "most race tracks".
Diffuser strakes rubbing is 100% normal. You can throw a few turns in the spring perches to raise your ride height not the proper way to deal with the problem but its one way. You can trim the strakes or let the road trim the strakes for you and then just go back and tidy them up once the road is finished making adjustments for you.

It will help, but not that much imo. I'd guess most of your scraping is from the angle of the roads. It's only going to help for when your car drops down after bumps and stuff. I doubt your car is dropping 3" just driving around.

Nice hope you had a good time at RA? Race 1 worked out pretty good for us first time back. Race 2 not so much caught some bad luck. Next race Sebring and then Indy. Thank you for the kind words.

Thanks for the education and responses. I like the idea of the street wearing the diffuser in. Again, I wasn’t too worried about the wear as they are replaceable. Just wanted to see if there was a long term downside in the race setup. Thanks!

Yeah I heard, there was like a 7 car crash right? We were the next group out and there was the cat litter dust from the fluid spills the first half of the track. LOL If you watch my video you'll see it, was scary being the first car out, first session after that much clean up.
