Change the differential fluid.
Read this post here for some additional info: https://driveviper.com/forums/thread...l=1#post418566
Just make it easy on yourself, and go with this fluid here: https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-Syntr...07KQFV3K8?th=1
No friction modifier required. You'll need two of those bottles to do a drain/refill, but you won't need it all.
The procedure (you can ignore the friction modifier part if you go with the Castrol Syntrax fluid linked above):
And to be completely clear about which plug on the side is the fill plug:
If that doesn't fix your problem, report back and we'll go from there.
One other random tip for draining/refilling either the transmission or rear differential: remove the fill plug first. Then remove the drain plug.
Two reasons:
1. It helps the fluid drain more smoothly (no "glug glug glug" like emptying a milk jug), so it'll make a bit less of a mess
2. There's nothing worse than draining the fluid only to find that you can't get the fill plug out to refill it. Not being able to remove the fill plug with the fluid still in place is way better than the other way around. You'd at least still be able to drive the car somewhere if needed to get it fixed.
Thank you i will try to do that first. It only
Makes the noise occasionally. I thought it was more of a rubbing noise? I appreciate the info and will get the fluids changed.
Cheers!
