It must be killing these guys that bought these cars to not drive them. They certainly have stronger will power than I'll ever have
Yeah the world only needs one parked at a museum and there's already one there. Makes no sense to not drive them, cars cost money, yep if you drive it won't be worth as much, same as any car. So what, that's why we all work hard right? We should do a poll of what ACR owners cutoff point is to not want to ever drive them again. Was it when they hit $180K? $200K? $250K? It's ironic the most track worthy factory car ever made, 99% won't see the track due to owners worried about the value. The Porsche guys are embarrassing us, I see 5 GT3RS's at every track event and those are $250K cars. Rarely do I see another Viper on track.
I find the Pcar guys to be a different breed. And the BMW M drivers are their own breed too. They love to use their cars as intended. I don't have the time to take entire days/weekends for track ventures, but everybody I drive with on weekends knows that my car gets her proper exercise whenever she's out
And then they'll be worried about irreplaceable parts, which likely means that most of these cars will never get driven. Which I think is the most depressing thing of all - one of the greatest street legal track cars being relegated to the role of a garage art piece to circle jerk over when friends visit.
"Kids, did you know Grandpa used to own a racecar?"
"Haha, I sure did. I owned a 2017 Dodge Viper GTSR for 4 years! Those were the greatest 5 miles I ever drove. So glad I didn't drive it more than that because I made a killing when I sold it; basically doubled my money!"
"You owned a racecar and you never drove it???"
"It was too great of an investment; you kids will understand when you get older."
"But grandpa, an equal investment in Bitcoin in 2017 would have been worth up to $6 million in 2021. Even World President Musk's Tesla stock would have been worth $1.5 million over the same time period."
"You spoiled little brats don't know how hard we had it back then!"
"It was a big liter V10 with a 6-speed manual transmission and an amazing aerodynamics package... the last great analog, street legal racecar of your generation. Sounds like you could have had it pretty great. Sucks to suck, you old piece of shit."
Are there any Gen V irreplaceable parts?
Windshield replacement and rear diff were very hard to come by for me recently.
I would think the ACR carbon aero bits are getting to be hard to come by. I thought I remember someone on here saying their splitter had a crack, went in for a warranty replacement, and Dodge basically told them tough luck.
The great thing about carbon aero bits is that they really can be replaced fairly easily.
Hope this help if y'all need em..

I'm sure JonB has alot of this stuff also.. maybe I'm wrong. I daily drive my Viper so obviously parts availability shortages would concern me!

Yeah, it would be much better if we all took them to the track and beat the shit out of them. Do some irreversible mods that suits us and leave them for dead when we are done.
There is probably a happy place somewhere between locked up in a museum and ‘Ricky racer’.
