I agree Dean. The latest car to have this issue was a Gen 1999 Gen 2 GTS. I'm convinced its the steel cup containing the rubber bushing pressed into the control arm that is causing the issue. I think it really is worth swapping out those those steel cups and replace with Poly bushings.

This thread is also a great example of why science needs to be considered when evaluating cars. Road bumps do not cause the corrosion that has been visible on the parts in this thread. It's not dissimilar metal corrosion either. That corrosion is caused by wet electrolytes or at minimum the isolated presence of water or humidity. Electrolytes in the water just make it happen faster. But if you live in a mostly dry climate and don't typically drive your car in the wet, then there is no reason to be concerned about your a-arms.

Those steel outer bushing sleeves are galvanized in a proper attempt to minimize galvanic corrosion potential. However, the coating is very thin and likely scores, or frets upon insertion and with dynamic loading. Couple that with road splash and 'London fog' moisture conditions, it would seem the perfect mix of conditions to facilitate this corrosion problem. I would encourage all you owners in GB to consider removal, inspection and replacement of the bushing assemblies.
