Just ordered this for the wife, will replace her Gwagon.
9.2 @ 155mph. If you go on youtube you'll see this thing is faster than anything else at any price. It's 1 second faster to 150mph than a Chiron even.
For $129K! LOL

I'm not interested or do I want any electric car, I'm just buying the worlds fastest car for $129K. LOL. And it will happen to replace the wife's daily, so will be a fun toy for me that doesn't take up another garage spot or cost me anything.
Watch what it does to the million dollar SF90, 3.5 million dollar Chiron, the mighty 765LT on and on. It's faster than all those cars to 150, probably to 200.

To be 1 second faster than a Chiron 60-130 and 100-150 it's got to be closer to 1300hp, not 1020.
Same with the SF90. The SF90 is 1,000hp and weighs 1100lbs less than the Tesla and it's not even close.

They did upgrade it for 2022, all new interior also.
The Taycon Turbo S with similar options is about $250K, go build one on Porsche site and is 34 seconds slower at the Ring and not even similar straight line performance. I see no reason to get a Taycan unless you just really want an electric car

With the Mclaren you learn to embrace it and are glad the money and engineering went where it did instead of having Honda like reliability and quality. LOL
NOTHING is faster than that car, (well was, the 765LT nudges it and now the Plaid annihilates it) it's terrifying and I got mine for $240K with 400 miles on it.
Same track the 720s hits higher straight speeds than my 2900lb 800whp Viper, think about that.

I've had my Model Y Performance since the beginning of March. I did have an intermittent Heat Pump issue (sometimes Heat and A/C worked/sometimes not ). Tesla replaced the heat pump without question, even though it was working the day I took it in for service. Been great since.

Besides that, that car has no problems I can see or hear. No squeaks or rattles. Panel gaps and paint look good to me. Car has been completely reliable so far.

My last car, '16 Cadillac ATS-V , consistently got about 25mpg. Best I can figure, the Tesla costs me roughly 1/3 to 'fuel' vs. the ATS, with equal performance. That's just a bonus.


I still love my Viper, but for DD purposes, especially where maximum range isn't really an issue, electric is tough to beat.

That was very true but it's becoming outdated news. Their quality control has really improved significantly in the last couple years. I wouldn't say it's on par with other manufactures that have been making cars for 50-100+ years but they have come a long way. If you don't count the original low production roadster they have only been producing cars for less than 10 years. Most just do a more thorough inspection for quality issues on delivery day and if you find anything, all will be corrected.

I wish the darn roadster wasn't so expensive. That thing is going to destroy every record everywhere. Its going to have the ability to deliver anywhere between -100% to 0 to 100% power to any wheel and go anywhere between that range in the blink of an eye (actually, much faster). It will be able to change power delivery to make the car rotate. Plus it won't have the "pulse" acceleration from pistons/combustion like an ICE.

Based on pictures/renderings, I dont know how its going to keep itself cool though.

It just got delayed again to a 2023 delivery. I was considering ordering one but I'm planning on a new 992 GT3 instead if I'm able to get an allocation. The teslas are a lot of fun but just in a completely different way. There is no waiting for the RPM's to build, turbo's or superchargers to spool, full power is completely instantaneous and available at any moment you want it. On the flip side, it's an automatic, silent and a land yacht. The new roadster is estimated to weight 4,500lbs with triple motors and 4680 batteries. It will have so much power that weight won't matter for records, it will most likely take the production car records, not only staightline but also at some less technical road courses as it's able to make up for its slower cornering by powering its way on the straights. Elon is claiming an 8.8 quarter mile, 1.9 0-60 and a sub 6 min 44s Nürburgring time. I'd rather pick up the last sub 7 min ring analog car left in production. Yes the 992 GT3 will be a lot slower but to me it's about the experience. Revving to 9k rpms, N/A, 3 pedals and 3,100lbs...yes please!!!

Yeah, at $200k, it is going to have a lot more expectations than a $120k sedan that goes very fast.
I dont know why it doesn't have a transmission - even a 2 speed dual clutch. I guess it doesn't need it.

I got a ride in a Plaid last Friday and man it's fast. Getting back in my Viper felt like I lost 4 cylinders. lol Styling of the Plaid is much better in my opinion but I am less than impressed with the quality of the paint and the little interior things that are already an issue and need replaced. But it does go like hell, is pretty comfortable and unassuming.

I echo another poster in that I am debating on trying a Porsche in a year is so. Maybe a Turbo or the GT3.
