Wouldn't surprise me if the X-brace was eventually swapped out for cash profit, or the way the car was hit it could have been cracked and replaced later. In any case, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. There should be evidence "behind the scenes" of a blue door (passenger), a white rear fender, or a yellow side sill.
Their car was a legit TA (33) with a paper trail of ownership. This car is a cobbled together mess
Not in my experience, but that's limited to fresh (river) water flooding.
If this was from a storm surge (salty), things might be different, but I still wouldn't think you'd see paint damage from flooding - that's purely speculative on my part though.
