    Auto trans. In Gen 5...?

I know, I know.... It goes against the grain of most Viper owners... There are a lot of people that for whatever reason don't want to shift. Wives etc...

Unfortunately, we are talking about survival of the car.....?

Btw.... Auto transmissions aren't what they used to be. They are becoming the transmission of choice for drag racers. I am actually going to install a Rossler three speed auto. in my 1400 hp TT Gen 3. They are much more consistent and hold up a lot better...

It's surviving just fine. Things are just currently blown out of proportion because it's new and isn't selling 50k a year like the Vette does. Media wise, the sky is falling and the apocolypse is about to happen because the plant is closed and the team isn't going to LeMans. This is nothing new.

Viper has NEVER sold more than 2k units a year in any generation.

Auto trans cannot be packaged with the car, structurally and economically.

According to Ralph, it is not happenning anytime soon. there is not a streetable tranny that can support the HP at the moment. Ralph gave it a thought for about a nano second. Yes the GTS R has an auto, but it is almost 200 hp less on that restricted Beast.

My Rossler turbo 400 is rated at 2500 hp....?

The 2 speed Automatic Transmission Factory auto for my Gen 2 is rated at 3000 hp and has a warranty..?

I know an auto goes against the everything hard core Viper owners believe in.

I just think it might help move more cars. An unscheduled close of the factory and pulling out of one of the most prestigious races in the world because of money is not good.

Hell, I have four Vipers now and I am looking at adding a Gen 5... I am all for the brand!!!

I am looking at this on a business standpoint.
We can stick our heads in the sand or be open for other options.

Unfortunately, it is what it is....

Bingo. I believe he just said the Viper isn't getting one because one that would fit would not handle the around town driving. The GTS-R transmission would probably still work, but that transmission costs as much as a Launch Edition by itself.

Your drag transmission has no similarity to a production car transmission. Especially with only two gears. Two gears would give the EPA an ulsur and they'd start spray painting Vipers.

You guys are probably right. Ralph is about as sharp as they come. I'm sure he has looked into it and the combination just won't work in the new car....

I was kinda bored this afternoon and decided to look on the VCA forum.

I haven't been on there in awhile and noticed there was a thread very similar to this one.

Didn't think people would get that "excited" about the subject of an auto trans. WOW....
