If the goal is rarity and true performance, the barest-bones ACR-E will be the most valued car in the long run. Dodge didn't set the track records with a GTC. Looking at the options checked on a lot of the GTCs, the only record up for grabs here was who could have the highest-priced car.

Historically, a super low-production volume car, or an accidental factory one-off or screw-up, were usually the most desired cars decades later. When every car is a one-of-one, there are so many ones-of-one that I think only a few cars will end up truly special. The Viper is only out of print for four years after all. Let's see what happens in thirty years.
Don't know if this has any significance, but I have a 10 yr-old Z06 with the Z07 and carbon packages of which they made less than 300 in 2011. I ordered it as a base 1lz interior (no nav, no power seats, etc.) and with only the CCBs and the lighter carbon fiber package - weighs less than 3100 lbs. It is very low mileage and for 9+ years it rocked along at 50-60% of MSRP value. Within the last 3 months I have two unsolicited offers for over its original $90K MSRP, and a nearly identical car just sold for over $100K. While it is not on par with a Gen V Viper, this could show a trend for higher prices for a low option, low mileage purist car - or it could just be the current economy driving the market. Beware the bubble... or inflation that just means you pay more as time goes on.

Multiple Carbon Edition Z06’s sold in BaT recently, none of which were $100K. Some way less. There were also a couple on the Corvette Forum that sold recently in the $60’s. Nice car, but I would still take a Gen V Viper over it all day.

Hey, that can be the difference between 1st and last place! For somebody that can track at the limit an important difference is the heavier TA brakes. And full leather seats for a tracked car?...yikes!

I doubt a sway bar swap would make that sort of difference for a pro. It won’t make any difference for a novice in a 640hp car.

That's really cool! Good for you for hanging on to it. Sounds like a super specific option combo and I'm glad to hear there's at least two people out there who appreciate what the car is.

After our trip to Bondurant a few years ago, my brother traded his Mustang GT to Bill Pemberton for a no-option, manual gearbox, widebody Challenger Hellcat. He waited like, six months for that car. I told him to hang on to it, as it's probably the only one.

Then, that douchebag brother of mine traded it in on a Dual-Motor Tesla Model 3. His wife was scared of the Hellcat, and he barely drove it as a result. I wished he'd told me about what he was thinking, because I would have found a way to buy it from him. LOL I would love that Hellcat to triple in value sometime in the future so I could rub it in his dumb face.

I thought that was a feature, not a bug.

My GF won't admit it, but she hates my Viper. I love it more for that.

Mine has ridden in the SS twice in almost 3 years. She has never ridden in the Viper in a year+. She has driven my truck twice for a total of maybe 5 miles in the 3+ years I have owned it. Haha

She says the Camaro is too loud and stinky. The Viper is too flashy and the truck is 'old man like'.

CPI report today shows used cars up 10% in April. Probably temporary, but i suspect Viper prices will stay higher than the average for a while.

You guys are funny. I have been fortunate in my life to find someone who likes cars that in her words are "loud and scary".

This is my Wife. She's 50.

    This is her car.

    This is her driving it.

The beauty of her car is I was happy to cut it up and add all the safety stuff to it for her. I could not bring myself to do that to the ACR-E with valuations being what they are now.

^^^ C'mon. At least be honest with us. That photo of your wife was taken when she was 35

Seriously, I'll take a copy of her diet if she's willing to share.

Ha! I once took a 2018 Camry XSE to a track day! (300 HP and "sport" suspension)
That was interesting, fun, and scary all at the same time. lol!

It was actually better than I expected, with the exception of brakes that should never be used on a track.
Camry: Not just your "beige" or "light beige" car anymore.

Sorry, wayyyy off topic. My bad.

Haha, that's what my girlfriend likes about my Viper. She enjoyed dropping it into casual conversations soon after I bought it - "Nothing much planned this weekend, other than riding around in my boyfriend's Viper."

Now that's a conversation winner, haha.

I thought I was lucky when, after I did my initial PPI, I asked my GF what she thought of the Viper and she responded, "Gorgeous! I don't know why you WOULDN'T buy that car!" But she's definitely not a fan of rapid acceleration combined with speeds over 80.

But, she supports my racing addiction (bought me an OMP WRC-R racing seat for Christmas!), goes to track days and helps out, lends a hand in the garage from time to time, and actually bought me my first ride/drive/laps in a Ferrari and a Viper (DriveXotic at MSR Cresson) for b-day and v-day. A person can't ask for much more.

Her "Mo' Powa Baby!" Face, haha.

Front wheel drive on a track with any elevation changes is scary. Especially if the suspension is meant for the street. I hate it.

Nah, current pic. For her it's not diet it's purely genetics.

She has always liked the ACR-E for not only how quick it gets around but also how planted and secure the car feels. The sentiment at our house is that Vipers are about as incredible as cars get. She doesn't like many cars other than Vipers and Corvettes.

Definitely cool when your significant other is supportive of your hobbies and interests. Even better when you tell them you're thinking of getting a Viper and they are right there with you in agreement that you should!! Very cool!!

We all have been fortunate to have acquired these cars. The bump in valuation has been a bonus.

Not mine. I had a brand new NRBM C6 when I met her. I never mentioned it for weeks till I showed up at her house with it. The expression on her face said it all. Not impressed at all. When she came home one day and the Viper was in the garage she gave it one look for 2 seconds and that was that.

Isn't it crazy to think that we're saying this about a car that just sold (without fees) for:

    * $70,920 over MSRP?
    * 48% over MSRP?

LOL, good point! We've all become a bit conditioned lately to see ever escalating prices on these sorts of things.... and houses, and stocks, and crypto, etc., etc. But it's a false reality to assume it just keeps going forever.

What really happens is that prices take a breather for a bit, by sliding backwards somewhat and finding a new base to build from. It would appear that this latest purchase is indicative of that correction. A few months ago and this car likely would have pulled $250k-$270k, the consensus of most of us on this thread.

The eventual $220k number is actually still very good as Jon and 13Cobra point out. Maybe we see the ads start slowing for now as sellers return their cars back to mothballs until the next run-up is upon us. That could be next month, or 6 months from now.

Life is good. My wife (who will be 50 later this month) enjoys driving my Cobra, but is afraid to drive the Viper although she likes riding in it. She drives up behind me at local car events stealing all the attention with our Boxer right beside her.

I think if this car were a more desirable color combination, it would've brought the $25k+ range.
