If I was to leave stock? Absolute go with the TA but I have modified almost every car I've owned. If I am able to modify with better than stock parts for less than buying the next performance versions up I generally go that route. Granted it still isn't a TA.
This isn't because I have a GTS, I was going to buy any Gen V that met my various criteria.

Yes. Aesthetic & functional. Funny. But they really did change the Stryker logo to a decal to save as much weight as possible lol. They whipped that car up in a hurry when a previous generation ZR1 was performing better. But then the ACR Extreme crushed them all...
Prepare for another argument...
This car is a GTC with the ACR and Extreme Aero packages. It is not a "real" ACR.
Real ACR cars have a "C" as the seventh digit in the VIN. GTC cars have a "D". The ACR cars come with "Delete Speakers" and "Delete Rear Cargo Floor Covering" line items, exposing the rear brake ducting that all Gen V cars have. It's just covered up with the normal interior.
As stated, Gerry Wood bought up a bunch of the last 1-of-1 cars and basically checked every option box. They're pretty cool, but they're not a special edition the way the Dealer Edition cars were a special edition.
Still a cool car and cool color, and a good purchase for someone's showroom.
Whats the highest an ACR-E has sold for?
You did your homework. The 2014 RWD model is the one to get. No nannies. RWD. Don't let the dealer apply any software updates to "quiet" the sound of the car. Specifically ask that it not be done. The are appreciating in value. Heck.....even XKs are holding their value.
Some F Types were 1 of 1. You start getting into rare colors and verts......prices go up lots. List of rarity on one of the Jag forums. Pretty interesting.
Looks like this car is currently bidding $220k with 6 hours to go. This could get very interesting.
So if we go by what you are saying then this would be a true ACR since the 7th digit is a “C”. If thats the case why the GTC’s with ACR and extreme package demand higher premium?

Meowzee, Bryan is just messing with you. The car that is the topic of this thread is a "D" VIN, which is the GTC. And you are correct that the GTC's have thus far been outpricing the non-GTC cars on resale by a measurable margin, which means that the "real ACR" argument has no merit. I don't expect that to change in the future.
Starting to think my guess of 256k is not going to be high enough.
I've been on a roll lately guessing BaT Viper auctions. C'mon $275K!
"Measurable margin"? I'm not sure $185K (BAT) for a 10,000 mile 2016 Bondurant ACR and $269.5K for the silver 2016 ACR (BJ) is exactly getting "outpriced" by the GTC cars. Some of the SEs are truly special and in a class of their own, and the 1-of-1 cars were certainly more valuable to the one that ordered them - and perhaps to other individuals with similar tastes.
Yeah, those odd combinations are pretty neat and obviously very, very unique. Big dollars for those cars going forward.
Pappy, I agree that the numbers are what they are. If they show that the "C" VINs are re-selling for more than the "D" VINs, then I stand corrected. I did not believe that to be the case.
Will there be a last minute spike or not...
Nope
Clearly, there's not a lot of people that care about having a "real" ACR. I don't think the GTC ACRs suffer any performance, for as far as I know, there are no differences in aero, gearbox, suspension, or engine. The fact that you could have all of the performance but also have all of the comfort too by ordering a GTC ACR could explain why, for now, they may command a higher premium.
It's an interesting discussion. In the long game, I think the purest, highest-performing, car with the fewest option boxes checked will likely command a higher premium. If the goal is rarity and true performance, the barest-bones ACR-E will be the most valued car in the long run. Dodge didn't set the track records with a GTC. Looking at the options checked on a lot of the GTCs, the only record up for grabs here was who could have the highest-priced car.
Historically, a super low-production volume car, or an accidental factory one-off or screw-up, were usually the most desired cars decades later. When every car is a one-of-one, there are so many ones-of-one that I think only a few cars will end up truly special. The Viper is only out of print for four years after all. Let's see what happens in thirty years.
^^^ Excellent analysis.
Yes, there is a good argument for the bare bones "racers" to be the eventual holy grail but only time will tell as the current trend would need to change.
2017 models will command higher values than 2016 ones. GTC ACR-E SE cars are and will remain King Snakes. I've been predicting this since summer of 2016, nearly 1/2 decade ago in solidarity. Just think of how laughable it sounds now to picture one selling for less than 200k. That wasn't the sentiment when they debuted. The naysayers opined that they just had different paint and that they were contrived as special. Turns out they were labeled special by the manufacturer for a reason.
