Gen V Horn Delay

The horn on my '13 GTS isn't instant, in that you press the steering wheel and it takes almost a full second before the horn sounds. I didn't think much of it, until yesterday I'm coming home from a Communion and some young driver decided to switch lanes on the highway, not caring that I was already there. I ended up halfway in the next lane over avoiding the collision, but at that point in time the delay in the horn was killing me. That second counts. Are they all like this or is something goofy with mine?

The airbag assembly needed to be replaced in many first year models. Wait until she starts singing a sympathy at 4 a.m. lol

I did find some older posts about random horn sounds. Fortunately mine has never done that and works as expected, except, it has a delay. I did find two other posts saying that was how theirs was also, so maybe I got my answer. Never really cared until I almost got run off the road and that small delay got me 1/2 way into another lane before making enough noise to get the other car to wake the F up.

Mine is a 15 and it has this problem. That was probably one of my first posts. The horn will beep after the accident....

I passed inspection no problem. Horn does work, just the delay which seemed like no biggie until you need it. I guess it's just normal, which kinda stinks. I might look at the wiring to see how it's triggered to see if there is a way to fix it. If it's just switches and relays it can be modified. If it's a signal through the BCM or similar, I think I'm beat.

I hate my horn. It's either a delay or takes an extremely hard press. I've never figured out which. It's very difficult to give a light "toot", like to urge someone in traffic to pay attention. You ain't the only one, Hootie!
