96 RT 10 turns over but wont start

Have had car for 2 weeks. Ran and cranked fine until I took it to a locksmith to try and program new car remote. He was under the dash, not sure what he did. Had a wire hanging out of my OBD plug. Then he plugged a reader into the OBD and said it didn't read for Viper. I told them never-mind, and went to leave and it wouldn't crank. Turns over, but wont crank. Ive checked the fuses under the passenger (right side) dash. All good. Haven't found the fuse box under the hood??? Read a ton of forum entries about the battery. I charged it, still would fire. Bought a new battery tonight, installed. Still wouldn’t fire. Doesn't sound like the fuel pump kicks on at all when I turn ignition. Any ideas?? And where is the damn fuse box under the hood!!??

Sounds like the VTTS module. Have you tried resetting the alarm or syncing it if the Gen 1 has that feature.

Im not sure how to reset the alarm. My FOB still works, horn honks when I lock. Alarm light is on in the message window. Will look into the VTTS. Thanks.

It might be useful to post the color of the wire you said you saw hanging. Also I believe a '96 RT is OBD1 not OBD2 like the '96 GTS. So that would be a problem with most modern scanners or readers.

As Dave has noted...1996 R/T 10 is a mixed deal. Yes, Gen II type JTEC engine controller (PCM) coupled with an ICM ( Ignition Control Module) on a Gen I motor (as opposed to the usual single board controller plus ICM found on earlier Gen I motors).

The 96 R/T 10 also controls the VTSS (Vehicle Theft Security System) with two separate modules...SAM (Security Alarm Module) and RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) where as the Gen II EEM ( Electronic Entry Module) is a single module that does the same thing (98-02 also comes with a reset switch).

As this becomes a complex trouble shooting discussion that I generally avoid on an open forum for the obvious security reasons, feel free to call me for more info and possible solutions to explore. 317 402 9013

Well, haven't heard anything about this Viper so far today.

By the way...yes...a 1996 R/T 10 has OBD II...which I forgot to make clear earlier today.
