A very special 1993 RT 10

A friend of mine sent me a link to a sales ad for a 1993 Viper in Germany (see link here).

At first I thought there must be an error, as the car is priced at € 85'000.-, which is around $ 101'000.- at the moment. Sure, it traveled less than 5'000 miles and comes equipped with a hardtop, but still? Only by reading the ad I saw the custom interior and wondered, as this has never been offered like this back in the day. But: apparently, the car was ordered by the Sultan of Brunei for his pilot and everything was done at the Dodge factory (at least according to the ad).

Did you ever hear about this special RT/10? Is this true with the factory installation of the interior?
Sure, the Sultan is/was known for a variety of one-off Ferraris so he certainly got his way with famous marques. I just found it interesting as I've never seen this car before.

I've heard of similar stories from the 50's with the Vanderbilt 's buying Custom paint Imperial's , but not with Gen 1 interiors ......

I don't think it's a '93. None of them came with the radiator header tank on the fender well liner. That started in '94.

James, maybe a local Detroit dealer got it all set up for the buyer, I doubt Dodge made all this

Thanks for the answers so far. These are roughly in line with my assumptions, though I wouldn't have glimpsed the part regarding the radiator header tank, for example. Nonetheless, might be interesing what comes up from your searches and might help to identify a truly special car - or not...

Well the ad is in Germany, not Switzerland. But we're not required to do so, either. Is it mandatory in the U.S., then (to order a Carfax)?

That's for sure a special and unique edition, but in Europe prices for Gen I start at about 50k Euros and up.

Not necessarily, there are a few for sale in Switzerland between CHF 43k and CHF 50k, so between € 39k to about € 45k. But for that kind of money on the lower end you probably don't get the best looking example with only a few thousand miles.

Janes, sorry I thought the ad was Swiss. Yeah, in the US a dealer must advertise with the Vin#. Many reasons for that but the primary reason is that a vin signifies they have a real car in their possession.

Searched for the car online, but only found articles from 2014 and 2016 as it was in the Netherlands and at an auction it seems. Was priced around € 40k lower than now.

I only have a few Viper Quarterly and definitely not in any of the ones I own.

When I was on the hunt for my RT/10 in 2011/2012 that car was also advertised in the main internet platforms here in Germany for much less... it did not sell for a long time, then it disappeared. It will never sell for this much, I am sure...

I wasn't aware that earlier models came with KM odometers. I have a feeling it's in Miles.
My early 93 is the non-US spec for the middle east market and it comes in Miles.

'93 was the first year Chrysler manufactured Vipers for export. The parts manual lists those specific items for international compliance with the code "BUX". Gauge sets, modified blinkers for lane change, DRLs, inboard mounted seat belt retractors and rear outlet exhausts (later used on the Gen 2s), PCMs are some of the items that were used in various combinations to meet different countries' import requirements. The rear exhaust support frame mod is the reason the batteries were moved from the trunk floor to the DS rear wheel well.

I would doubt that this interior was done at the factory. Anything done inside the Viper plant would have to be approved, part numbers assigned, parts released, vendor approved, scheduled, etc. Further, any appearance items would need approval of the Design Office. I can't see Tom Gale approving this interior.
