Visiting the Mercedes Benz dealer with my TA

So, I took my wife's MB SL550 in for a wash (that's right, you get lifetime free washes as often as you want). I was telling
our salesman there I had traded in the ACR. He took me into the shop to show me a 2004 black on black Viper convertible they
had taken in on trade. Excellent car and well maintained.

He also introduced me to a guy who I think is in charge of their maintenance department. He told me to bring the TA
in so his techs could see it. I drove the TA in later this morning and the whole place emptied out to see it, sales people, management
and all the techs. Most of them were snapping pics. I took two of them for a ride.

Interesting to see "car people" express interest in a Viper even if they work for a MB dealer.

I can barely enjoy your story from being irritated that you have the weather in which you can drive your TA now.

As I watch the snow fall.

    Thnx for sharing.

HA! Seems like Friday is the end, 50-60's for the foreseeable future...

But to your story, same for me. Friends own a big BMW dealership and I went to look at a new 3 series. Everyone wanted to look. Salesmen, guys from the shop, etc.

Car people are car people. I mean, I have brand preferences, but I can appreciate a good M or AMG as much as the next person. Very cool story.

I wonder if some of the Dodge Dealers that got Vipers got the same response when they got one in?

    Dman,

Are you the same Dman from the CTSV forums???

Real car people are great. Same thing happened to me at my local Bentley/ Maserati dealer. The service techs came out and surrounded my GTS. We talked about the car for at least an hour. They loved it. I bet your TA was a huge spectacle at that MB dealer. The most exciting thing they see is the SLS, which is awesome too but much different from a snake.

A dealer that got a base SRT into stock had an employee post a photo of the unloading on Reddit. I dunno about the response in person, but on Reddit, it hit the front page of r/all, which amounts to over 500,000 views in around 8 hours. That's a lot of interest, and no wonder why, it's a sexy car.

Most disheartening: Many of the top posts were "whoa, they started making these again?"

Although I had a CTSV, no, that's not me.

Inspiring to know that there are groups of people out there who don't scoff at something that isn't in their wheelhouse. I hate that so much about car culture - bicker and moan about something being better than another. Nobody dismisses 'starry night' simply because 'mona lisa' exists. Glad to see that a stereotypically snide brand's representatives took the time to appreciate the TA!

    Dman,

That's nuts! There is a "Dman" and a "dmann" over there. Both funny as hell. I thought for sure you were at least one of them!

Great story. Absolutely car freak here. Not brand loyal or preference in any way.
