It would be nice to have the real deal. There are a couple lists that vary. Here's what I have..

Numbers above seem slightly off... Im a 2015 SRT and my Vin ends in 458. I assume that means there were atleast 458 built.

Here's a great drill down for 2015...mines a 15 as well. The vin range First VIN: FV510001 to Last VIN: FV510477 and the Build Sequence numbers available, based on MHD....whatever MHD means.

Crazy to me still...that with production and sales ramping up, they killed it.

Number of cars built by configuration

my car was last off the line in 2015 and was vin 450 and only 433 built in 2015.

What is the month and day of your build?

  16. #16
Only reason the numbers were ramping up is because people already knew it was being killed off. In addition to all of the custom colors and options beginning in 2016.

I’m not buying that; they set all those track records with the ACR which created a lot of demand for a performance car that actually worked very well. They should’ve pushed even further with the platform and I think the sky was the limit.

They were selling 40-50 a month till the discontinuation and ACR was announced. The handwriting was on the wall.

FMVSS 226 and the reluctance of FCA Top Leadership to invest in the platform a few years before August 2017 sealed the Viper's demise. Even if the platform continued how many more ACR's would of been sold. We'll never know but would it be closer to 100 or 1000? Neither figure makes for a sustainable business case longer term IMO.

1000 or more for sure! Look at the pent up demand for a gated manual exotic right now! The Gen V Viper would’ve met that demand with a brand new beautiful car. If the power jumped to 700+ it would have took off. And, while not Viper DNA, if dual clutch auto was ever made available, damn.

I'm not sure 700bhp N/A is possible and still meet emissions. However, a new hood + a blower Could have easily done 850bhp+

With the Big V10 it had the chance to be the first 1,000hp+ production car. No doubt it could have been as light as 3500lbs.

I’m sure it wouldn’t have been too hard to crack 700 with the Gen V and still be compliant with emissions.

I have been told that FCA needed to make 1,000 Vipers a year to break even. That seems like a low number but the person that told me this should know. He said they would have been very happy making 2,000 a year as they would have then turned a bit of a profit. Making less than 1,000 per year meant that FCA was losing money and the only reason to keep making the car was because of the publicity that a halo car generates.

Re-engineering the Gen 5 to meet federal side air curtain requirements was what I understood killed the car. Convertibles, I am told, were exempt from this so if FCA had made a Vert they could have kept on making them. Not sure how much of all of this is true but this is what I've heard.
