There's a period of time for all cars, especially exotics like Ferraris, where if you don't have the latest model in a ten-year period, you must be poor, because you can't afford the newest model that comes out every year. If you have an older car, it better be for a good reason. Last year of some engine, or manual gearbox, etc.

But if you wait twenty years or so, the older peasant-class Ferraris might start to become cool again, and the values for still-running ones goes way up. It doesn't make their ridiculous maintenance schedules any cheaper, but you get enough nostalgia to put up with it.

Maybe a 360 Challange Stradale would be cool, but a run-of-the-mill 360 isn't, IMO, a worthy trade for a Viper. I think you should pass on it.

I like most Ferraris and really like some. Great to look, and there's one particular local 430 with exhaust that makes the most glorious sound on track screaming down the straightaway. Sometimes I'll just follow him and others for a lap or two before passing to enjoy the sound. Glad others take on the challenges of Ferrari ownership and that a couple very occasionally bring them out when they're not in the shop or protected in a hermetically sealed garage!

The Gen V (and Vipers in general) is different in that it's an exotic that begs to be driven and enjoyed as much or as little as you like. You marvel at it's design, styling, robust build quality and performance. It makes every drive an event, and draws insane interest everywhere it goes. But the only Ferrari I truly fell in love with was a pristine original Dino 246 GT years ago on display in the Barber Motorsports Park museum...and probably worth a million more than most. Incredible garage art to park next to a Viper!
