I think you'll be able to get a virtually new GT3 for a steal

(Reuters) - Porsche will replace the engines in all of its current model year 911 GT3 sports cars and has told owners to stop driving the cars because they could catch fire, the Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) unit said on Tuesday.

Last month, Porsche from its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany said it was recalling all of the 785 of the model year 2014 911 GT3 cars produced because of the fire risk.

Of the 785 GT3 models that will have engines replaced, about 400 were shipped to the United States, and about half of those have been sold, a Porsche official said.

Only ~400 came to the states and they only sold about half. So that would mean they only sold about 200 GT3s here.

More could have been sold, AFAIK there are quite a few sitting at dealers that they can't deliver yet due to this issue.

Also heard some were sitting at the dock still waiting to get fixed. I thought the gt3 would be a more specialized vehicle with lower sales number. However price point seems close enough to a gts to draw a good comparison between the two. In my head they were more expensive.
