Can't say I disagree with you. The problem for me is North Carolina requires you to wear a mask to go anywhere inside or pay a pretty big fine so as much as I don't want to wear one and am healthy as a horse... I'm finally giving in to the nature of our current environment. Sucks.

Unless the mask is an N95, it will not protect the wearer. What a mask like that does do is to help protect others...it keeps the shit coming out of your mouth and nose from flying everywhere. That seems to be the fundamental misunderstanding in this country - there aren't enough N95 masks to go around, and the ones we do have need to be saved for the people that truly need them (medical workers in high risk environments). That doesn't mean other types of masks aren't effective, but they also don't work like people expect they should. Bottom line: the masks most are wearing protect the others around them, but not the wearer. So if some moron is standing there yelling "BUT MUH FREEDOM", they don't get it. They are also putting you at risk. People in this country think this is about making a choice to not protect themselves - I get that, but that's not how this works. If one person decides to not wear a mask and is carrying the 'rona, it is screwing over everyone else around them. That's why some places are now requiring them, which of course is making people even more upset and leading to meltdowns complete with "BUT I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION". Being stupid generally isn't considered a medical condition. It also doesn't help that people don't seem to grasp that both your mouth AND nose have to be covered for it to work. Nothing about this situation is going to change until people start caring about others more than themselves. I don't wear my mask for me - I wear it for you. I'm hoping that others will extend me the same courtesy, but to date, I've been let down every single time I go out in public.

So you're saying that something that has to be viewed with an electron microscope won't be stopped by a piece of fabric that you can see sunlight through? Hmmm.....
I'm also under the impression that if infected and coughing and sneezing while wearing mask, the mesh in the mask may make the vapor droplets even smaller by atomizing them so they travel further. You want the droplets leaving an infected person to drop to the ground immediately. The smaller they are, the more distance they can travel with very little wind current.

If a person is infected, each normal exhale breath puts out about 30 units of Covid virus. It takes just over just 300 Covid units to infect somebody. The best place to be if around people is social distancing and being outdoors where the wind currents quickly carry away and disperse the vapor droplets of the virus. It really comes down to parts per million...the more fresh breezy air, the better if around people.

One of my good customers is an air marshal. I talked to him a couple of weeks ago and figured he would be grounded due to the danger of flying in an enclosed tube with Covid going around. Nope, he flies his normal shift, often to Asia. He does wear a mask and practices basic anti virus hygiene. I asked him how many air marshals have come down with the virus...answer none that he is aware of. But apparently the TSA agents at the airports are are getting infected.
He feels that the airplanes HEPA filter in the air circulation system helps. Plus there is very little heavy exhaling (like screaming, shouting, etc) inside the airplane. This is the exact opposite of what happens in a bar, concert, stadium sporting event, singing in church, etc.

Agree with City and have to question the authenticity of this box. I have gotten numerous packages ( for personnel passing out food to those affected ) and have not seen anything with a listing like this on any of them. Now, saying that I could sure see a company deciding to post something like this to avoid legal complications if someone is wearing a mask and they get Covid-19 ( and want to blame it on something ). Like City, please go ask your friends working in the Medical Field, Grocery Stores , etc., if a masks work? Better yet view what WHO states along with groups of Doctors Worldwide. Exactly (wrong).... this is not a political issue, it's a medical safety issue. Stop making it one and think of the safety of your friends and family. The sacrifice this country has made during via past generations pales in comparison to being asked to wear a mask to ensure you don't affect others. That people are so selfish, self-centered and self righteous not to do that is mind boggling; though that also says a lot about the ethics of this generation.

I am not naive enough to think Republicans or Democrats have any control over a disease. This is Worldwide and when we all live in a Country that has forgotten how to negotiate amongst our elected officials I sure don't think one group can control a Pandemic and drag it out. I don't think of this as a political issue and many Republicans , Democrats and Independents are together in viewing the Global concerns to human life this Virus has caused. We all need to listen to Scientists , Medical Professionals and Researchers because this is their ground, their daily environment, and I have little faith that those in power , regardless of what Country , what Political Party, etc. have even the remotest comprehension of this unknown scourge. If we asked Democrats or Republicans or Fascists or Communists if they could legislate away Polio I wonder where we would be? This is rampant calamity similar to 100 Years ago with the Spanish Flu , yet we still seem to be fighting silly arguments, putting blame in insane places , instead of realizing we need to fight this together and that means consideration for your fellow man - wearing a mask isn't even much to ask.
