    2013 Launch Edition Paint Retouch

    Hello guys,

I'm about to buy a launch edition that has an aftermarket spoiler / wing that I don't like. What do you recommend? Anyone has had experience covering the holes in the trunk lid and retouching just a small area. I want the painting to remain as original as possible.

Unless the price is out of the world cheap just find another Viper if you dont like the look. Prefix paint is second to none.. id think itd be extremely hard to do a good looking localized repair and match prefix work.

Which is it, a spoiler or a wing? The TA style spoilers are glued or taped down, no drilling. But a wing definitely has holes from mounting.

Unfortunately, It is not that easy for me. I live in Puerto Rico and there is no other Gen 5 for sale. Importing this type of car to PR is not an option for me because of taxation.

However, this LE is flawless. 16k miles, all original, non tracked, non drag races, sub-100k price... The only bad thing is the spoiler ( 4 holes in the trunk lid). I think I'll go with painted rubber plugs. They won't bother me as much as an imperfect localized repair.

It is a wing. It has 4 holes in the trunk lid. I tried to upload pics but for some reason, I wasn't able.

I had some experience doing that on a Gen2 with a great shop here, but not on a G5. My experience from that is if you want to repaint, you're doing the whole panel if you really want it to look nice - otherwise you'll always been able to see where the holes were

Contact Scot here on the forum.. he works for Prefix. maybe just ship the hatch assembly up to Auburn Hills (Prefix) to be repaired and repainted.. they're easy to work with and do excellent work on the retail side also!
