    Gen V color question

    Hey Guys,

Looking to purchase a 2016 Gen V GTC with all ACR options (have deposit already) What's throwing me off is the Color is listed as Destroyer Grey, which i cannot find any details on that it ever came on a Viper, only the Challengers. Unless it was one of the many color options that were available with the GTC. Im trying to figure out if the car came from the factory this way, or was painted. I find it hard to believe it was painted but you know never know.

    Thanks!

Post the car and we can tell you if we are familiar with the particular 1of1. I only remember 1 grey TA that was similar to destroyer grey.

Look on the Monroney and see if Custom Paint is shown. It will not state the color but will tell you if it was originally painted in a non stock color.

That is not a stock color. Look through the 1 of 1 thread to see if the picture is there. Many of us posted pictures during the build or after pick up.

That's what I kinda thought. I'm trying to figure out why it was painted. After spending 140k sticker, only 1200 miles and crystal clean carfax. Someone with tons of money? Just wanted it their own?

    Kinda lost.

You can pull up the window sticker with the VIN. That will tell you if it had factory custom paint, but will not list the color.

Color listed on window sticker says Bright silver metallic, but so many custom options thought maybe it was a custom option I'm not seeing.

Yep, looks like a marketing car that was either repainted or was built before special paint code existed and they just used one that was close.

If its a prefix re-spray the stripe and base color will be even with eachother.. no ridge. The stripes are not painted on top of the base color.. but i think with that sticker, someone repainted it.. maybe even fca

I was thinking that also, but then why option two stripes at $9500 when it only has one..

OP - if youre serious about this car its likely someone here can find out more on what marketing did or did not do to the car.. Bill P. Maybe..

So there should be no ridge correct? They sprayed the clear over both the stripe and car so its smooth.

That is my understanding and how my stripes on my ‘14 were.. the stripe and base are on the same plain and color sanded from prefix.. there are some youtube vids showing the process

Yes im very serious and have a deposit right now. The car only has 1200 miles and is basically brand new. I'd LOVE some more information as to why it was painted.

That car and those specific photos have been recirculated as scam listings over the past year. Be careful if you decide to put the deposit down.

Check the CarFax to see if Dodge owned it 1st. I recall this car, looks awesome, just can't remember if it was repainted. As ViperSRT stated, sometimes the Munroney label does not 100% reflect the car except for VIN & Emissions info especially for an internal car. Also reach out to Scott @ Prefix on this forum he may have the history. As others have said, there will be no masking lines in the clearcoat on a Prefix painted vehicle. The parting lines will be under the clearcoat.

Also ask the dealer what does the dash plaque say?

Key on what Quickster is saying , and the other interesting note ( which makes me think this is a Promo Car ) is that there is no Dealer listed at the bottom of the Window Sticker. It would also not be uncommon for a Viper that SRT would be using for PR/Photos/Marketing to have it plugged in for an order , under a specific paint, and then have the car actually painted something else when Prefix painted them originally. Interesting info, and good info from many VOA members.

I didn't think the online window sticker generator listed the dealer on the bottom
