    Gen V shock options

Ive got a TA that thankfully still has good shocks..however, while watching youtube one night i saw on that youtube video with the goonsqaud fellas who rebuilt the orange ta, the 2 mode ta shocks can be hard to come by..

when the time comes to change the stock ta shocks what are the options.. can they be senT back to bilsteim and rebuilt and/or are there other options (and if so what needs to happen to make sure the car doesnt set and error code when removing the 2 mode system)?

Wow $8k no kidding i bet they’re performers! What about options like MCS? Or would that set codes? Also if they become unavailable are there options to have the originals rebuilt?

No codes are thrown. The dash just defaults to "Race" mode if the electronic sensor is disconnected.

If your looking to save a few bucks we can rebuild any shock on the market. We can make your factory shocks work a little better for your application also. There still is no substitute for a proper racing shock if you really want to get after it; BUT we also understand people have budgets

You would be surprised if we showed you shock internals and dyno graphs of some high dollar alleged performance shocks vs your factory shocks. Adjustments on the high dollar alleged performance shocks is antiquated in many cases and just gimics in others.

I'm still waiting for your suspension setup to interface with the race street buttons on my dash instead of the remote I know I'll lose.

The DSC/Tractive setup on my Gen V was amazing for the track. With the ACR-E I'm getting into I wonder if I'll keep the bilsteins on.

sorry to resurrect a thread but has anyone installed the DSC shocks in an ACR-E. I had them on my GTS and LOVED them. But will it plug and play right into the E?

I’m not convinced on the Tractive shocks to be honest. I think the community was mislead from Day 1 on these. I myself was under the impression they were a “game changer” because I wanted something like what GM uses on their cars (Magride). The truth is that Tractive shocks are exactly that. For street use.

Can you tell us what you like about them for the track?

Curious why you believe they are for street use, which suggests not for track use, and is that what you're referring to with being mislead?

For what it's worth, at NVE in New Orleans I rode 3 laps around NOLA in Mike Levitas '14 TA after doing many in my own '14 TA, and another 3 in the ACR-E. There was a significant improvement with the Tractive damper that is controlled by the DSC controller. The car stayed noticeably flatter under braking and hard cornering, turtles were remarkably absorbed compared to stock, and turn-in was greatly improved, noting he was on Hoosiers and I was on Corsas. I was just very impressed with their performance. Unfortunately I have not experienced MCS or other dampers on a Gen V.

My concern with aftermarket parts is always quality, durability, and on-going service and support. Sticking with name brand with a network of dealers and support is important, and particularly with track dampers that typically require periodic refreshing.

My personal experience was in my '14 GTS. I installed them then had to drive from SD to LV for a Dodge thing. I was absolutely blown away by the ride. Much more controlled in the ride over bump, asphalt transitions and totally gone was the wrenching bottom out jar when you hit a sharp small dip at speed.

I used them at Chuckwalla at the Viper Tracks event using various files from others much more advanced then myself in set up. I have significant seat time tracking vipers. On OEM tires I was running down ACR-E's at that event. Now, was it me or my car set up. Granted I have seat time but was running in an advanced group.

In terms of potentially using on my ACR-E now, it's strictly for the street. I have a dedicated racecar.

I agree 100% I would not use these for going fast on the track.....

Shocks that use solenoid valves or electromagnetism to change the dampening characteristics are just to in consistent for any type of serious road race, hill-climb, autocross use. Electronic controlled shocks of all types have been around professional motorsports for well over 30 years with very limited success. Everyone always comes to the same conclusions after trying to develop them ; Very inconsistent, one more system to worry about or break, not worth the investment of time, money, or man power, and un-safe.

Drag racing there is some benefit to using shocks like these because its such a short event.

Running these types of shocks on the street for personal comfort and some seat of your pants button pushing feel is just fine. Not everyone is out to improve their lap times or win races some times it just about bolting some stuff on your car and having fun.
