That's the cheapest I've seen a catch can for these cars. Looks like a decent piece. I'm trying to figure out what the 2 90degree connectors are that are "T"'d together with a piece of clear tubing are for on the side of the can. There is an inlet at the top, a drain at the bottom, and a vent with filter on the top. Are those other ports used for the other valvecover/vacuum lines?

I believe the clear tube with the 2 90's attached to it is a way to see how much is in the can.

Was thinking something like this a sealed unit, so no fumes vented, basically a air/oil sperator

what you guys think any cons to not having it vented?

Bingo...I like to keep these systems sealed for street use, but I'd have no issues running a vented setup at the track.

I went round and round on wether to use Steve's system or go vented. I ended up having access to a vented X can so I bought it.

Honestly even doing a bit of street driving with it I don't notice it much at all.

You won't find it there...the only thing that came from there was the catch can itself. I knew of Rx Performance from the LSx community, so I decided to adapt one of their cans for a Viper application.

Steve M, any chance you've got a list of the parts and where you sourced them from to create your setup? Nice, clean looking install.

installed in the rear of the car, so no issues with fumes. Tapped at the rear of the valve covers with a 1/2 fitting. Cost ~$200 for everything. Summit Racing for all the fittings and hose

I do indeed...I sent you a PM since I sourced everything from non-sponsors (like eBay, Jegs, etc.), and I don't want to step on any toes.

Bringing this back from the dead...just changed the oil in my Viper today, and this is what my catch can caught over the past 1,200 miles (street driven only):

Took a peek inside the intake, and everything looks good. I don't care what brand you go with (Doug Shelby's offering looks really nice), an oil catch can is highly recommended even on a street driven Viper. The last thing I want is that crap getting back into my intake manifold.

Steve M, great point, here is the link to pics of my stock car with oil in the intake lots of little puddles and a really thick layer, now i have a catch can.

I run the ACR-X vented can on mine as well, and I've never smelled anything ever. Although I do see puffs of oil smoke coming out of the vent every now and again. Nice to see its doing its job!

FWIW, the ACRX setup has a different connection point on the valve cover. I think Arrow racing makes the mods to the valve cover but not sure.

Yup this is true. My baffles inside the valve cover were modified to accommodate the lines.
