The stubs would be the issue. Just guessing the torque rating might also be an issue

Why would the stubs be an issue? Im just changing the ring gear and pinion. Both are Dana 44s.

Example, they are diff between a G4 and G5 and those two are closer than the stated scheme.

Don't know about the GTO, but the Viper uses the 44HD version of gears. These have the larger splines on the pinion, same size as the Dana 60.

Performance related bolt-on mods on my car are : Arrow PCM, Belanger Headers with heat shields and HF cats, AR mufflers, UD Pulley, K&N drop-in filter, and smooth tubes, DSE air box heat shield.
My guess is the 3.91 gears have a similar effect as all those bolt-ons combine, or will give you the feeling of adding an extra 50 hp. Character of the car has not changed, it's not brutal, but just feels more alive, . Still not at the level of what a Heads & cam Stage 2 would be, but it's getting closer.

We pretty much have the same set up minus the gearing . That’s sounds like a big jump , would you go different direction if you could do your gearing again ?

I would do the same again with 3.91 (+10%), as 3.73 (+5%) would not make a noticable enough change, and 4.10 (+15%) with Bolt-ons would be fun but would make the car traction limited in all lower gears.
JonB at Partsrack can set you up with all the right parts, and go for the added super polish on the gears.

Ah ok that makes sense. Im sure they are different then, I dont know 100 percent for sure but im willing to bet the GTO is not using HD gears. Well time to sell it off.
