    Transmission 2nd gear issue

If im upshifting it goes through the gears with no issues. If I'm downshifting it wants to grind and lock me out of 2nd gear just about everytime. I have to be around 1000 RPM for it to allow me into 2nd while downshifting.

Anyone have a guess to what this issue is? Is it something that the dealership would warranty or one of their loophole "wear and tear" issues they try to get out of fixing? Just recently started doing it, 23,000 miles

    Try this:

    1. Car in first gear, clutch to the floor, then, slowly raise the rpms to 5000. If the car creeps, the clutch is not releasing

    2. Start out in 1st gear and bring the speed up to 40 mph, then, put the clutch in while maintaining your rpms. If the engine continues to maintain your speed, the clutch is not releasing.

If the two above tests show the clutch IS RELEASING, the only thing left is the trans. It makes no sense to diagnose what the trans issue is, it has to be pulled.

car doesmt do either of those things. pretty sure its the trans. Just curious if the warranty covers trans stuff or will the dealer try and tell me its wear and tear

Usually will cover it in my experience. Might tell you to come back when it's worse. Just don't tell them if you've ever taken the car on a track, even if it's for just hpde. Also if they ever want you to demonstrate it on a test drive with a tech, don't push the car. Both of those things got my car black listed for all warranty repairs.
