Getting bigger throttle bodies is one of my favorite mods. Anybody sell them? Typically no tune is needed. You pick up a few hp but the best gain is throttle response is improved.

Likely a huge waste of money. This was the rage back in the late 90s and early 2000s until everyone found out the SRT Engineers knew what they were doing and the larger TBs actually lost hp, did not gain. Have a sneaky suspicion the same thing would happen all over again!
What makes the metal throttle bodies better than the plastic ones?
I think you'd be very wrong about no tune being required. The Gen 4 and 5 cars are very sensitive to changes to the intake. There's a reason why you don't see anyone doing it. Those twin throttle bodies flow a lot of air.
There's no need for them. I know Calvo had tried bigger ones they hurt power. I'm at 800whp naturally aspirated on the stock ones, put it that way lol.
Does your car have a warranty still? I'd start with an underdrive pulley.
The factory throttle bodies are so big they do not open all the way.
We have tried opening them 100% and lost power
So what was true in older Generations still holds true today.
OP, did you come from the Mustang crowd? They're all about throttle body upgrades.
Never even owned a crapstain. ν ½νΈ I've been a Viper guy from 2003. 3 out of 5 Vipers all larger TB's and I great (dyno and racetrack) results.
If the Gen5 doesn't need it...it doesn't need it. But to say (specially Gen 1-3) didn't get good hp and throttle response Gaines would be 100% wrong from my firsthand experience.
What are the size of the stock throttle bodies on a Gen V Viper?
There are two different varieties. 2013-2014 cars used the same plastic throttle bodies that came on the 2008-2010 cars. 2015-2017 cars switched to metal throttle bodies, which are the also shared with the V6 Pentastar engines. The connectors are different between the plastic throttle bodies and the metal ones, so it is not a direct swap.
The plastic 2008-2010, 2013-2014 throttle bodies are 74mm.
The metal 2015-2017 throttle bodies are 76mm.
The only person I know of that swapped from the plastic to metal throttle bodies on here is KB Viper. I'm sure he's not the only one though.
It also requires a different PCM calibration. Again, not a direct swap, but not impossible.

If you want details on how to swap the older style plastic throttle bodies to the 2015+ metal ones, that info is here:

As for something larger than the 76mm metal throttle bodies, don't bother. By my measurements, the Gen 5 intake manifold opening is 76mm, and there really isn't enough material to open it up any more without messing up the gasket that seals the throttle body to the intake manifold.
