Thread: Oil pump rotor

    Oil pump rotor

Rebuilding/inspecting a timing cover for a new motor.
Ordered a new rotor set since it was apart and there is a small amount of dirt/wear on the mating surfaces of the old rotors as you can see in the last pic.(not bad in my opinion but new is better right?) the clearances were all well within spec.

To me the old one is a better design with the dimples on the sides and pressure lube holes in the outer rotor. Was there an issue with the old design or did FCA go cheap on the new one? Which one would you use?

I guess that’s part of my question, was it made that way or modified? It was in a gen3 used cover that I purchased, this is the first one I’ve had apart, the photos I’ve seen have all been no dimples and no holes.
