It is a catch 22, as the Moss Magnusson Act states an extended contract can not be extended again , yet many companies will do it anyway. The Insurance actuaries figured costs of repairs for an extension and not an additional extension. Dealers should not add an extension without verifying it will be covered, since in most States if the extension is deemed ineligible the Dealer could be liable. If you get one from Maxcare Direct then pretty hard for them to deny. Usually the computer check with a Dodge Dealer verifies and they are often less expensive, but one can always check it out.
One can check it out either way and it has been a curious situation over the past decade, since not that long ago some contracts required a Dealer check up on a used vehicle before an Extended Service Contract would be offered. I will let folks know that if you get an extension and then take it in quite soon for a problem, it can often be denied as an existing issue ( read the fine print).
