Poly Motors Mounts Installation Question

Hey All, I picked up these mounts from polybushings.com and started installing today in my 98 gts. Any idea what way would be up, or doesn't it matter. The stock mounts have alignment bumps on both sides, these on just one side. I put the first one in with it up, but assuming it's there to better align with the frame. Thoughts?

Those little "bumps" aren't going to do jack squat to locate the mount in place. Other makes of mounts have actual pins instead of that dimple. The pins will hold the mounts from movement.

Here's a picture for reference.

Summary: It probably matters, but since you bought the cheap mounts, it doesn't?

Top Tip,
My car is a 2000 GTS with stock headers. I fitted those Polly mounts about 5/6 years ago and my poly mounts are literally TOAST!

REASON: The metal heat shields do not cover all the Poly mounts! I found out the hard way

So when I fitted them on a friends car I extended the OEM heat shields with some aluminium and rivets. His Poly Engine mounts are fine so far

You may have to remove your side sills, (when you Jack the engine) Keep an eye on the exhaust manifold where it enters the chassis side sills to catalytic converters.

This is what you need to do with the heat shields or Get some thermo wrap (FAST).





You can also see in the above pictures the correct position of the studs.

Never heard of those? that's why I made my own.

Those little bumps are there so you have something to torque against installing or removing, so you don't twist the rubber in the mount. Since poly mounts are stiffer, especially with the internal interlock, you don't really need them.

I made those same heat shield extensions, but only toward the top and rear of the mounts (no exhaust runs on the bottom). I think Chrysler made them 3 sided so one part number fits either side of the car.
