What CD brand do you use

I want to make some music CD's for the factory radio in my GenII car. What Brand CD do you use to burn your music. I've had issues with other cars where one brand will work good and other brands not so much.

it's not normally the brand that is the problem it's the thickness of the label that caused the issues. Get one that isn't transparent and has a pretty thick label and you should be fine. I used Memorex in the past with good luck - https://www.amazon.com/Memorex-700MB.../dp/B000075UZ7

I broke down a couple years ago and got an iPod adapter kit. Didn't have to cut anything up either. Installs nicely under the radio too.

I noticed this right off when bringing the Viper home. It wouldn't play any of my burnt CDs. I didn't spend a lot of time researching CDs that would work.

I ended up replacing the stock head unit with a Kennwood that had usb, aux, and Bluetooth inputs.

The biggest hurdle is integrating the stock amp to your new system. The wiring diagram is on a sticker on the outside of the head unit. Unfortunately, there is not a wiring adapter so you will need to connect wires in some way to your new system.

I chickened out and ran new speaker wires and bypassed the amp. Everything sounds much better than the stock system ever did.

You can experiment with the RF radio tuners. Will allow Bluetooth or AUX imput through a radio signal. I have not had a ton of luck with them due to quality of signal.

This is exactly what I did.

Same here. Used a very inexpensive Bluetooth device that also allows me to use phone and talk hands free. Plug into lighter and pair to phone, iPod, etc. I think it was less than $20 on Amazon.

Thanks, I'll try that CD and see if it will work for me. All I want to do is use the CD player the way it was used back in the day. Yup it's old school and I'm ok with that.

It has been so long since I burned a CD. What software are you using to create your 'mixtape?'

I used windows media player (Windows 7 Pro) which has a burning feature. I used it to burn my favorite gear head mix to a cd. The burn completed successfully and plays fine on the same laptop but not in my Viper. I've got the CD's suggested by Red98GTS on order. Should be here tomorrow. Turns out that is the same brand that all of my Woodward Dream Cruise disks are that I have in my Prowler. I tried one of those disks in the Viper and it worked fine.

When I worked in Chrysler's audio group, CD labels were not a playback issue, but they were a major cause of a disc not ejecting issue. I wouldn't recommend using any label.

According to my experience, sometimes the burning speed can create an issue, especially with older head units. Usually, the lower the burning speed the better (in terms of playability)...

It isn't so much the CD manufacturer but the type of CDs that you use. The best kind to use is the CD-R. The CD-RW (rewritable) are a hit and miss and also take longer to burn. Main item to look for is what format you burn the CDs in. Typically, WAV format audio works in most CD players. Might want to try CDA format if the WAV or WMA doesn't play.

I'll see if I can find the specs for the Alpine (Model/Part #P04763982AB) stereo.

Yes, definitely CD-R and wave format. This is what I do and it worked alway very well in my stock Alpine unit. I do have some playability issues with my aftermarket Sony CDX-C90 but those high end units are typically very sensitive to burned CD'S. ...
