I tucked my '96 GTS away the first week in November last fall. Here was my storage checklist:
- put a couple of Silica gel packs in the interior
- stuffed rags in the exhaust (to prevent a critter from crawling in)
- pumped the tires up to 50 psi
- parked her on some carpet squares which I'd stapled to 1/2in MDF
- chocked the wheels (and left it in neutral with the ebrake off)
- put some paper towels between the wipers and the windshield
- added Stabil to to the gas
- hooked up to Battery Tender Plus
She stayed in the garage all winter where I keep it heated to 41 degrees (arbitrary number that seems warm enough). I probably opened the driver side door once or twice but that's it.
This morning, after more than 4 months in hibernation, she fired up without a moments hesitation, ready to go! Drove about 60 miles and dropped her off to have some pre-spring work done. Was very excited that everything felt good. Tires weren't flat spotted and it had no trouble rolling - brakes hadn't stuck at all or anything.
Here comes the season!
