After re installing intake manifold and fuel injectors best way to prime

I took out the fuel injectors last fall and replaced their o-rings and filters. After reinstalling them all I primed the car three times "key on, wait, key off... repeat" and it stopped at 3 times so I figured that was all it wants. Though, cranked, and cranked, annnd cranked, then finally it started up and TONS of black smoke - which I assume is/was unburned fuel.

What is the proper way of doing this? I currently have the manifold, waterpump, and rocker covers off and will be putting them back on once the weather warms up.

    Thanks

I had the intake off for powder coating this past year. Obviously everything that goes with it and attaches to it was removed. Since this car was being changed from FI to NA I also had to redo a good part of the fuel lines. So, really, nothing had fuel in it. First time to start the car I went to start it with no additional steps, it cranked for about a second, and fired right up. Maybe you are overthinking it?

Jamos, we did this recently on a friends ACR after a powdercoat job. We put everything back together of coarse. When ready to start we had one person turn the key until the fuel pump started 1 click. While this was happening another person pushed the Schrader valve test port with a screw driver and rag over it. A slight amount of air came out followed by fuel of coarse. Be careful don’t let fuel shoot everywhere lol. Be sure the key man is ready to turn it off if need be. There is probably a hose u can attach to the test port with a valve into a bucket somewhere. But this worked for us and it fired up as normal. Watch for leaks around the port. We had to change it. GL.

Fuel dropped down into the cylinders when you pulled the injectors from the manifold. That’s why the hard start and black smoke. No worries

You're supposed to pull the fuel pump relay and run it out of fuel before disassembly. I mean, after chocking the wheels, disconnecting the battery, and having a lawyer deliver release papers to everyone within 5 sq miles of your work area.
