I can’t understand why anyone who is serious about Vipers would not join/renew. But for the life of me this site makes it incredibly difficult compared to many other sites. Guess I need to call in. Self inflicted guys.

Just registered thanks to this thread. at less than $10/month, I'm not sure why I didnt join earlier. Had my Viper for over a year now. Better late than never!

I have to agree with Jon B. as over the years we have gotten tons of calls on parts, labor, sales from folks who say they are members and all they have done is sign into the Forum. It is even apparent when an individual signs in as a new member , and that person is almost always just a Viper owner or interested party who signs into the Forum. This is a very open Forum, unlike the majority out there, and non VOA members are given a lot of latitude that is often not allowed elsewhere, but the issue here should be very simple in my mind........if you own a Viper it is in your best interest to be a member.

The reasons are really simple:

1. Repository for help and tech advice for a vehicle no longer made
2. Suppliers, sponsors, manufacturers, etc. that still offer items or have improved items for the Viper.
3. Comraderie , whether at functions or on this very site.

The argument is simple, even without the events, the magazine, etc. why are you so unwilling to pay a measly $115 to support this Encyclopedia of Knowledge as well as free help given by so many members , who feel a kinship?

Clubs can never be everything for everyone , but it seems almost hypocritical to say one is getting nothing out of VOA ( as an enthusiast ) when you glance below their name and they have hundreds or thousands of replies. Seems they are getting something out of the information the Club provides and yet are unwilling to pay to play. Cmon, sign in ( and call if you have problems because the young lady who answers is super welcoming, polite and helpful ), because having fellow Viper owners , companies and tech expertise there are your fingertips should be worth a nights out at the bar or restaurant with a significant other??!!

It apparently gets subsidized by member dues of non-attendees.

2018 NVE3 INCOME 382,793.
NVE3 EXPENSES 527,293.

.................NET LOSS $144, 500.

Now, divide that NVE loss by ALL PAID MEMBERS = every paid member subsidized NVE by approximately $80 that year ?!? Great for attendees, but not so much for Treasury.

If so, dues could be lower if they were'nt having to subsidize NVE.....

I joined last year because I thought it was important to contribute to the Viper community - this forum has been a great resource, and I've tried to pay some of that back by sharing my adventures and what I've learned through my own Viper ownership experience. Last year I decided it was time to contribute financially as well, even knowing I wouldn't be attending any of the events.

Now I realize that most of my money was going to support the thing I cared least about: the magazine.

Let me be clear: I understand there are folks that really enjoy the magazine, and that's great. It does look very nice on the surface even if it is a bit lacking in content (my opinion). Blame it on the Viper being out of production. I can also understand why some folks involved with the magazine have pride of ownership...they don't want to see their baby kicked to the curb for various reasons, some more noble than others.

What is not okay with me is making it the foundation of the club. You can say that's not the case, but the financials say otherwise. To me, that is totally missing the community aspect of this club. It only serves those directly involved with the magazine's publication.

And that's why I will no longer contribute financially to this club.

That said, I would gladly financially support the continuation of this forum, but not at the rates currently being charged for full membership. Something for leadership to consider, but I know it will fall on deaf ears.

Appreciate the words. Totally understand the lack of free time, and rest assured that my decision has nothing to do with anything you've done or said.

I'm not going to rule out renewing my membership at some point in the future, but like some, I'm going to wait on the sidelines until some of the smoke clears and I have a better picture of what the future of this club will look like.

My 'warning' in post #40 above was Feb 5, 2020...BEFORE the first Covid case in USA. [WA was #1] My illustration of a loss-potential at $144K was not too far off. The bosses listened, but defended their unfolding mistake and even mocking me a bit..... one member post even said I was "Off My Meds."

The Treasurer is here Jon.

That is CASH Basis Accounting meaning when the income was actually received and when the expenses were actually paid.

2018 NVE3 income was received during November 2017- March 2018.

2018 NVE3 Expenses were all paid in 2018 when the event occurred.

We actually had a surplus from NVE3 which we are using for NVE4.

BUMPED for 2021 relevance.
