Anyone selling a very high mileage GTS soon

Started my search looking at BMW e60 M5's (V10 6 speed) but the ridiculous ongoing maintenance costs has lead me to Gen 2 vipers instead. Really stupid stuff like 1 VANOS solenoid costing $1.8k (there are 4 in the m5).

Apologies if this should not be posted here, but wondering if anyone plans on selling their high mileage GTS anytime in the near future (100k+ miles is cool). All the ones currently posted in the classified section seem to be low mileage, "excellent" examples.

Extending my search to the inter webs, all the GTS's seem to have under 50k miles as well.

So....is there a price point you're really looking for? Did KBB say Vipers above 100K miles should cost under $5k?

I'm doubtful that there are many Gen2 GTS Vipers above 100K......let alone ones for sale.

I will second this. If you are looking for 100+ miles, you may be looking for a while. When I was on facebook every once in a while they would post mileage of our vehicles and there are some, but doubt there are many for sale. if I were you I would decide what you are looking for specifically in a GTS purchase (colour etc etc) and find the higest mileage for sale and pull the trigger. Keep your eyes peeled in these classifieds plus EBAY and cars.com, craigslist, etc.

Does not need to be over 100k per say, just open to high mileage examples.

Planning to make it a toy in nyc, so don’t want or need a pristine low mile example.

$5k would be lovely. But realistically 28-35k would be the goal.

You won't find a whole car for $5k.....used engines are $7k. Keep checking Copart, eBay, and Craigs.....that's your best bet.

There's a super cheap Gen3 Vert for sale in Minneapolis Craigs........$25k. You could make it into a coupe and still be way under your budget......

Whatever you do...do it fast. Low production #s and recent high auction prices are driving everything up.

    Good luck in your search.

There are plenty of normal mileage Vipers. Those are the non garage queenies with owners that actually drive them and they aren't constantly miserable about what the car's value is.

So it's not on the premise that normal mileage cars don't exist that you may not quickly find what you are looking for, but more so the people that actually drive theirs would like to keep them and continue driving them.

Also keep in mind that 3K miles a year is considered normal miles for a sports car. Or weekend car. As opposed to your DD which the insurance industry considers 20K miles per year to be normal. So my '01 should have 57K miles. That is normal mileage. Or very low mileage as compared to realistic car statistics of what would be 19x 20K miles for a total of 380K miles.

Doesn't sound unrealistic... my buddy just purchased a very clean, low owner 99 GTS with 44k miles for $34k in Scottsdale

There are surprisingly a lot of Viper Facebook groups for everything specific right down to only Viper wheels for sale facebook groups. There are likely 5 or more that would be of interest to this member. Obviously there will be a lot of cross-posts between them but you are right. He will 100% be able to find something he is looking at there unless he is very adamant on the 100,000miles part which I doubt he is. I think the higher mileage suggestion by him was more to keep the price down, but honestly look there and you will be away to the races.

there are new vipers for sale everyday online. Unless you are picky and looking for a specific year or color. I have had mine since 2010 and outside of living in a snow state now its driven 2-3 days a week. I bought it around 20-30k miles if i remember correctly i am around 60k now.

Carfax total loss vehicle! It needs TLC That's for sure, new anti roll bar drop links on the front, also looks like new end links on the steering.

Not sure what shift knob that is? the rear exhauster cabin vents need to be repaired or replaced, looks like the thin rubber flaps to stop fumes coming into the car are missing. Aftermarket radio and Door speakers
Power amp missing, and possibly rear fuel pump fuse block? Damage to parts of Passenger door trim.
I also notice the car has aftermarket sill covers, they may be covering some distortion on the sills?

Be careful, I would want to get the car carefully checked out for chassis alignment, and research the History more.

I didn't want to start a new thread, as it fits here quite well. Where do you guys see a '98 GTS with approx. 105k miles on it price-wise? Accident free. Trying to get an estimate, as I might starting to negotiate soon with the current owner.

If I had to guess, with 0 accidents at 105k I would say $33k-$35k. Low 30's would be a good deal. High 20's would be a steal.

If you're in Switzerland, wouldn't the market there be different?

I would say there's hardly a market here, there are so few cars. But it helps me to establish a baseline - after all, I could also buy one in the States and bring it to Switzerland. But that's a lot of work (shipping, customs, a few modifications to bring the car in accordance with Swiss laws etc).
