    Got the Scott performance wires installed on my car. Very nice high quality built wires. They were built and shipped out the same day

    Charged01ACR, have you run the car for long since putting them on ? Heard stories of them cracking within minutes of first use.

    Forumeddie2 I have ran them for about 20 or 30 mins so far. Weather has been crappy. Going to get her out today since it's nice out. So far so good tho no cracking

    FE2 those cracked because he did not have the shield around each plug.

    I'm using a couple of "Loose" Cable ties (Not tight) just to hold the wires in shape.

    I picked these looms up and the thread pattern fits perfectly into the valve covers. I'll post pics this weekend after I get everything hooked up and routed.20200206_175245.jpg

    My search for the best wires has gone from OE, to Magnecor, to Quality Wires and I'm finally settled on Scott. I had used the 8.5mm Magnecors for well over 20 years, but the insulation developed little spark leaks. I replaced them with Quality wires, but they have boots shaped like the OE's and didn't have enough reach when using my header heat shields. I got some more Magnecors, but the boots were just a little short to be able to grab thru my shields and I ended up damaging a couple. So, I ordered the Scotts with straight boots and I think they are keepers. Definitely race quality with tough boots and fiberglass insulation. They allow the use of insulating socks to further protect from header heat radiation. They clip into the early Gen 2 wire retainers, but just barely. I will likely order the Smoothies that Eddie used which look super clean.

    Quality Wires, Magnecor, Scott, Scott, Magnecor.

    3 Questions for ya:

    1. Which sleeve type(silicone/fiberglass) did you go with on the Scott's and why?
    2. Which socks you running? Do you prefer them over the shorter semi-ridged ones that QualityWires provides?
    3. Tell me about your header heat shields. Did you order directly from ATP? Price? Do they utilize existing hardware?

    I used fiberglass on these. They are woven to easily fit the 10mm wires, so unlike the QW's, they are a little baggy with the 8.5s I bought and they just barely fit the early Viper plug looms. I think silicone wires are just fine as long as you keep them tidily routed and well loomed - but that's true of all wires. I bought the 6" socks from Scot@Prefix at the Viper Days Reunion last summer with awesome pricing. The socks and OE plug shields keep the boots from being cooked by rising heat thru the shield openings. 4" socks are probably just fine. I bought the shields from Thermal Control Products and made some .032 stainless angles to attach to the header bolts and the shields. I tried 1x1 aluminum angles, but they just didn't work out as I hoped.

    Ceramic doesn't require any boot or sleeve. Not sure why anybody would add them on top of the ceramic unless it's not really ceramic. These have been on my car for 6 years just like this.

    If your car is predominantly or exclusively street driven, only braking at 95% you probably don't need extravagant shielding. I drove mine for a year with nothing but the OE plug shields. I did not dare put it on track unprotected because I've SEEN what always happens when you track them hard without all the extra protection you can reasonably provide.

    And what Dave leaves out on this thread are his nifty polished shields.
