    Dash Cams

I've had a couple close calls where mindless drivers on their phones have nearly merged into me....

This is kind of a catch 22 as I want to make sure that I'm in full control of my data and privacy meaning data is secured and encrypted.

Also would better if the systems are able to neatly blended into the interior and not just suction cupped to the window.

    Any recommendations on dash cams?

I've tried a bunch of brands and in the final analysis, I like the Garmin the best. It's easiest to operate and has all the necessary bells and whistles.

I have an F800 by Thinkware. It is small and attaches with 2 sided tape directly to the windshield. It has a phone app that lets you connect to it and configure it and to view what it is seeing. You can also download the video that it has stored on a micro SD card. It uses Wifi to do so. It also has an optional rear camera and hardwire kit available.

What's the point ? Keep watching and avoiding or get hit and let insurance deal with it.

and if the other person decides to lie and say it was your fault? it will save your ass when its your word against their's. We run dash cams in each of our 7 family cars

I use this one (goes on sale on amazon pretty often) in a few vehicles including the viper. It adheres to the windshield with a 3M mount, no suction cup

None of the models provide for any means of data privacy or security.

seems kind of crazy in this day and age

The only problem with this is what if you are driving alone and something happens that"s not your fault and who ever is involved has a passenger or a "second witness".

Don't even ask me why I know this.

Can any of these just plug into the Viper rear view mirror? I used to do that with my radar detector very convenient!

friends mom didnt want a dash cam in her car because "why do you think ill get in an accident.' Guess what happens, driving on a 2 lane road at night, an oncoming car turns left in front of her, she clips the rear. Insurance company cant determine who's at fault and puts her at 33% fault.

What happens if you're driving on the freeway and someone changes lanes into you, not very difficult when the viper would be small and hidden in someones blind spot. How do you prove who is at fault? When you can get a dash cam setup for $100, there is very little reason not to have one.

Looks like a pretty good solution. I just watched a youtube video review from a guy who liked a lot about it; but, said that 2 that he owned had overheated alarmingly hot when going from park mode to driving mode. It would be good to hear if that is "fixed" now; or, maybe is not a generic issue. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cca9-AuPEjI )

Speed is easily determined in video footage regardless....I don't speed other than on the track so I'm not concerned.
