Question Keeping it Simple Cat Delete and Straight Pipe

    Hey,

I appreciate everybody's input on exhausts and I soaked up all the thread on the high flow cat as well.

I'm thinking of keeping my exhaust mod simple, just a cat delete and then straight pipe the muffler.

Does anybody have this set-up and how brutal is the sound?

I had it.... sounds great. If your deleting all 4 cats it'll be too loud. If you just delete the 2 after the O2 bung (aka hiflow) you'll like it. I posted a video in another thread. Ive also done this set up for 2 local owners. They are happy

I had that on my TA when I bought it. Previous owner had secondary cat delete with a custom straight pipe, no muffler. It was obnoxiously loud but not in a good way. Sounded high pitched annoying/cheap/rattled with no deep sound to it. It also droned like a mofo at cruise too. Headers/cat delete stock mufflers (or any muffler) sounds 1 million times better IMO. I wish I had some video for you but I dont.

^^^ This!!! I just tried your proposed setup a few weeks ago and immediately took off the straight pipes and went back to the OEM mufflers. If you want the pipes, I have them and they are yours if you cover shipping. They cost me $90 to have cut from quality stainless and flared to fit in place of the mufflers. So think of it as a Christmas gift from me if you want them

Thanks soooo much for the offer, I accept!

Check your DM, but where do you live in SFL? I have family going to / from Miami over the holidays and might be able to collect them.

I was thinking of trying secondary cat delete only and straight pipes. Some back pressure, not O2 Sensor issues and nice and loud.

I have a Maserati GT MC that was amazing with sport cats and straight pipes but then again those exited the car at the tail end not 18 inches from your ear like the viper will be....

If you delete all the cats and leave the factory muffler you'd be surprised how loud and good it sounds. This is what I'm running on my stock ACR. The car blew a 108 decibels at a track where a stock Gen 5 blows 96db. So like 4-5 times as loud

I also have high flows, 2nd cat delete with stock mufflers and I think it sounds great and better than most cat backs until you do headers. IMO it's the perfect volume and just enough louder than stock but not horrible. The extra pops are awesome too!

I have the cats deleted and minimal mufflers on my Gen3. Mine would be different than yours because I retained the "ring of fire" crossover H-pipe. I tried it first, on one side, with a Dynomax 24246, but that was too loud. I settled on Dynomax 24236 mufflers. It’s a challenge to talk on the phone with this exhaust.

    Obnoxious Loud.
Illegal decibels on most tracks / cities / neighborhoods.
Wont pass emissions anywhere that tests.
8.4L of STINK every 2 RPM, about 24" from your hair and clothes.
Flames out pipes, scorching the sill/outlet.
    Backfire/popping vs nice burble.
    Requires PCM.

Other than That, its GREAT !

Just did, and just shot you a DM back. I can meet your family members on their way down or get a shipping quote. I apologize for being out of pocket yesterday, but duty called
