    Hardtop hardware

Guys I picked up a hardtop off a 94. I plan to put it on my 96. It does fit with the sports bar removed and the front latches lock as they should, but I need rear mounting hardware. I am told the top slides on two pins that stick off the roll bar. Does anyone have a picture or a little drawing of these pins with dimensions? I would like to make a set.

Also is there a rear weatherstrip near the rear overhang area that sits on top of the roll bar? Pic? Thanks guys

The pins should already be on the top. They bolt to the Sportsbar. If they are not in place, you can use 4-5 inch bolts (guessing on the length ) to secure it.

But what about the gap between the areas the bolt fits through and the sports bar? Nothing fills this gap? I think a pic of an actual bolt in the top off of the car would go a long way. Someone must have one.

I have a Viper Mania hardtop, I'll post pictures when I get home tonight of what the hardware looks like both installed and off the car. I think it would be pretty easy to replicate the setup using hardware from Home Depot - it's not very complicated.

Thx CSX. With so very few gen1’s around me it’s not easy to go see one in person.

I have a'94 with a mopar hardtop, installing it requires the removal of the black plastic 'sports pad'. After you get that off, the hardtop screws right on. Tops are a touchy subject with early vipers. I have a zillion pics but I just can't find one that shows the hardtop rear mounting setup.Attachment 40908

Jdeft1 thanks for trying. I can’t see your pics maybe it’s a forum issue. Anyway I got the info I needed from the Wizard. The pics I hope you can see are of the mounting hardware for Chucks top which is a 94, the same top as I have. As I suspected it’s a M8x1.25 shoulderbolt with a .688 OD belleville washer .055 thick. I am still up in the air on the ID of the washer. The one washer I have has a .265 ID which is smaller than the threads major dia that measures .312, maybe a .265 ID can be screwed on. I will order both and see but I can now track this stuff down at McMaster. The top slides along the bolts as the car moves. I hope this helps someone else.

Anyone have a 3-piece top and need hardware?

I have a GTS and I found a bag of hardware labeled "3-piece top" from a batch of parts I bought from out of state.
