Made the jump to a Gen 5

After 12 years with the Gen1 (94), I finally made the big move. Took some sacrifice on my daily driver but it's all good. Bought an all white '14 GTS with 18k miles. Previous owner was in Massachusetts somewhere. They apparently traded it in and bought an ACR at this dealership in Wisconsin (Kearns).

I'd originally planed to red stripe it to look original thinking the all white was a bit much. But, it grew on me and everyone that sees it liked the idea of leaving it as is. My one friend said it right, "It looks sophisticated". Had it for a month now. 1st stop was straight to protection. PPF'd the whole car and coated with Modesta. Also had the marker lights tinted, didn't like the red/orange color show. On white also, there is an issue of yellowing of course. It's mostly visible inside but also starts to creep out by the open vent area. Came up with a carbon fiber vinyl trick there that turned out well, see picture. Hopefully it will last. At least no more yellowing visible on the outside. Only other issue so far is some 'clunking' coming from the front end I mentioned in another post. I've tightened the x-brace, no luck. But, I found out it goes away after it's warmed up. Happens when wheel is turned hard and in reverse turning out of the driveway. So, maybe it's just the coldness of the polyurethane bushings? Dealer is going to check it out here in a few weeks none the less.

Thought I was out of the problem trying to find tires when I had my Gen 1. Guess not! Fronts immediately np. Rears have some life on them. I know, buy them now. I'm bleeding money anyhow.

Well, can't wait till Spring. Time to re-do all my bucket list items and go try out this LAUNCH button

Real windows and A/C. I can't believe it. Can't make NVE in 2020 but I'm surely going to do all I can for 2022. I hear maybe Colorado which would be great. My Gen 1 with 54k miles and Venzano Viper interior traded in at 25k with 3 piece trunk top. They sold if for 26K. Somewhere, someone should be very happy. Let's just say I helped someone else become a Viper lover I bet. I hear tell of a hibernate mode also. Gotta go check that out. So many new things! Thanks all, enjoy the pics. Love the sepia interior, that was the deal maker. Andy

The wide tires on the Viper can skip along the pavement when they are cold. This can be heard and may very well sound like a clunking sound. I would also check that the ball joints are properly greased.

Congrats on the car. Vipers look great in white.

    Beautiful car. Congrats!!!

And, I must say that it looks fantastic in all white, with no stripes. If you are going to stripe it, black would be the way to go. I've seen a white GTS with black stripes in person and it looks terrific. If you do not go black, you could do something really unique like a nice baby blue .

The Gen 1 was Red, of course. Was an early 94, March. Only Red and no A/C in that period I think. I drove the new car home from Wisconsin. Got stuck in some traffic for quite a while in the Chicago area and thought, time to test the A/C !!!! Ah, it was great. I see more miles in my future.

Very nice. You might want to consider silver stripes as I saw one not long ago and it looked awesome. Kind of a classy touch IMO.
