No and yes...but not exactly. Our Gen V is on a more accessible "launch pad" than our Gen I. But, when I drive the Gen I, it never feels like a step down or backwards. It is a blast to drive the 95...and, it is trustworthy !!

To me, Vipers occupy a unique spot in driving experiences...so, once on the "Viper plateau"...the fun factor is there for me regardless of which Gen (or varient) I choose to drive.

I sold my 95 as I did not have time to drive both but miss having in the garage. Should have kept, But better for some one to be driving than sitting.

Just getting into my first Gen5. I'm sure I'll miss the G1 but not yet. Poor thing, traded it in and it's sitting cheap!

And yes, that's a $10k Venzano interior upgrade. Car is great, someone should snatch it up. Wrong time of year though I guess.

Gorgeous car! Wish I was closer. Always thought a G1 would be fun! Had a chance to drive the Gen5 yet? What model did you end up settling on? Pics?

Got a 2014 all white GTS with 18k miles. I drove it home to Ohio from Wisconsin where I bought it. Love it so far. It's in the shop now, getting 100% PPF, Modesta coating and some window tint re-done. I noticed some "clunking" out of the front end when having the wheel cranked all the way and in reverse. That has me worried, but decided protection first. Then, we'll see what that's all about. I post some pics when I get some.

Jon, I can speak to everything about the Gen1 if your guy has interest. All maintained, ready to go. Plus it has the Lemke 3 piece trunk top installed. If I would of had time I would of swapped that with the original top and sold it separately. Oh well.

Score! Enjoy it! Check your tire build dates then do a pull through 4th. It'll re-shape your thoughts on "fast cars"...

I've had my Gen V for 5 years next month, and I would still love to have my '95. I don't get why some people hate on those cars. I know if I were to hop into one today, sure it would take a few minutes to get used to, but I am 100% positive that I would still love and enjoy driving that car. I hope to have one again someday.

I don't remember who it was but someone else on here had the same clunking issue with their car. I though it was something in the steering rack or the knuckles in the shaft going from the steering wheel to the steering rack (I don't remember the correct terminology).

I came very close to buying an all white SRT, these cars look great in all white. I was going to put green vinyl stripes on it, paint the brake calipers green, and get green badges. Typically white doesn't do it for me, but these cars look really good in solid white or with stripes. Enjoy the car, your going to love it.

Fulltilt. I had the same thoughts. I was going to put red vinyl stripes on it then ppf the whole car. Low and behold, all white grew on me pretty quick. Even the rear taillight insert is white and I thought it was all too much. As my one friend said, it looks more sophisticated staying all white. That's the best way to put it. Guess I'm getting old. I'll have some pictures next week I'll post here. Also with a trick to covering a yellowing spot from the exhaust heat. Thanks for the info on the clunk. I'll find out soon.

BadAndy, while I completely agree with looking closely at your steering and suspension components, I feel obligated to point out the dozens of occasions that a similar story of tracking Viper sounds from the driver's seat found no steering or suspension pathology...BUT said sounds disappeared with proper servicing of the differential. I have seen this myself on numerous occasions. In my opinion, this is even more important with the early Gen V differentials given not only the reported early failures of this component but also the metal particles found on early fluid changes that were done prophylactically because of the reported failure rate.

Most informed Gen V folks in my Region did this fluid change...noting that the very experienced Viper Tech found abnormal metal flakes in the drained fluid in 50% of the 2013 and 2014 Vipers serviced. The mileage varied from 600 miles to 11,000 miles on these cars.

I had issue with a clunk few months ago. After checking everything I possible could. It ended up being loose X-brace bolts.
Don't just try to move the brace by hand, actually put a socket to them. I'm thinking it's 180 inch lbs. not much.
6 of 8 were loose on ours.
You can also type "clunk" in the search this forum field for more threads and things to check like brake ducts, dry ball joint bushings, etc.

uvbnbit - Thanks. I actually saw your other post while doing searches. I'm going to check that this weekend. I have a dealer appointment in about two weeks. So, I'll take Steve's advice and all this and see what I'm dealing with. Thanks guys.
