    Unhappy Another failed update

Got an update notice on my 2016 ACR screen that an update was available. Followed the instructions. Nothing. Restarted the car and received a message to see the dealer. Called the dealer, seems they're getting calls about this (not just Vipers). Taking it in tomorrow - see what happens.

Update bricked the radio on my Ram. Took the dealer two days to get it fixed.

On the Viper, went through in 10 minutes. But yes, go over to the Ram forums - you'll have hours of reading. The updates are bricking 8.4s throughout the FCA line.

I'm kinda hoping they don't mess with mine... It's been acting weird lately and constantly bugging me to update - and I've been escaping out of it. That said, I can't get the thing to work half the time so my guess is the dealer tries to do an OTA update. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't go south.

I've been getting the update prompt for the last few weekends and started having issues with the volume control this weekend (quite possibly completely unrelated to the update). Updated the software last night and so far no issues.

Updated (not by choice) this am and now I receive prompts to update and no volume at all. Then it says it's updated on one screen, then back to update when I switch to anything else.

Hopefully it'll work when I get in tomorrow after another scheduled update.

Let the car sit last night, fired it up just now and volume works and no prompts. Will drive it tomorrow and see if anything changes, but it might have just "fixed" itself.

How does FCA allow crap like these updates to be released? Someone should get their ass fired.

Same here. I tried to schedule the update when I know I won’t be in the car and it updated anyways while driving. So the update worked but I was nervous. I needed navigation but resorted to using my phone.

I got my prompt late last week to do the update..... passed on that opportunity and frankly not sure I'm going to do it. I rarely use the radio, don't use the Uconnect at all, and the only real thing I use every time I drive the car are the SRT pages. Unless things start to act haywire, I'm thinking I don't need the update and not worth the risk to try to install it.

After a certain amount of prompts and not doing it, it will force the update. Total crap..

I had similar no volume issues. Bluetooth and the radio acted like it was playing but with no volume and the volume controls acted as if they were completely disconnected. Haven't had any issues since the update but I've only had the car running for about 30 min post-update.

Mine prompted a couple of weeks ago, I did the update and it made my radio stop working, I called unconnect and they sent out the update again and everything was fine after that.

Is there not a way to remove yourself from pushed updates? For example when uconnect would stop working for people because their subscription had expired, people had to call in and request to be removed because it would prevent using srt pages, once removed they could access their srt pages again.

All is well. Went to the dealer (Boerne,TX) this morning. Tech worked on the car for 20 mins but could not download the software update on his computer. Not to be outdone, the service rep gave it a try on his computer. Took 15 mins to download to a tumb drive. Placed the drive in the car USB and auto loaded started. Update successfully completed in 30 mins. Great extra effort by the service rep. Cost? $0000.00

BTW- FCA sent out a tech notice Nov 3 (Sunday!) to expect nav/radio failures to occur on several MOPAR vehicle types.

I decided to allow mine to proceed today with a little trepidation.... it appears to have loaded properly and the only thing I noticed so far was having to reset the clock. Fingers are crossed!

I ignored the message a month ago. Today I got fueled and came back to this message (sorry its sideways) the bad news is I held up the line waiting there at the gas station like a dope. The good news it seemed to work. Once I restarted and got a few blocks away another screen appeared that indicated the update took. From there it asks you to press an acknowledgement button and then it goes away. Hopefully forever lol

Went fine for my 2020 Durango GT. No notification yet for 2015 Ram 2500 Laramie. No worries for my Gen IV .

Yes, get them too frequently. Updates should be free. It is part of why getting GPS in a vehicle is becoming a poor choice (unless it allows use of the phones app, thus making updates obsolete).
