Totally jelly, so want to do head and cam, it sounds awesome congrats! Curious the cost to have this done, would love to see a before and after dyno over lay to see if all that cost is really worth the added hp which doesn't seem like a lot especially when headers and tune yield around 600 rwhp. Please don't take offense to this I'm just on the fence of this next step and trying to justice 20+ k for 50-100 rwhp extra seems odd to me.

Gotta pay to play. A&C performance's h&c kit is about $15k but they're in the other side of the country.

LOL wasn't sure that was the case 15k seems to be on the lower side I thought, could be wrong though. Seems like a lot for not much power increase. I'd be a little beside myself if I dropped 20k+ for 50 extra rwhp. Peak dyno number may not be showing everything hence I'd love to see over lay of dyno graph. Excited to see 1/4 mph times for OP, wondering if he has before as well to compare? HP difference will show a lot.

It will be in the $15k-$20K range depending on what you select. I wouldn't think there would be much variation with cam pricing, but you could see a fairly significant variance between headers (Bellanger vs ARH). I think head work is fairly consistent across the board. Several years ago I had Greg Good work the heads on my SRT10 Ram, and if memory serves me correctly, that service was in the $4k-$5k range.

Justifying the cost will be a personal opinion. My highest peak stock number was 556, the lowest was 539. My gain was in the 100/80 range. Others have definitely seen more. It was worth it to me, but may not be worth it to someone else. If you look at this logically, you could spend close to $7k on headers, the install and a tune for 40-50 rwhp over stock. That puts you around 600. For another $8k - $13k, you get at least another 50rwhp with the cam and heads.

Outnumbered, graph looks great and it sounds awesome. Enjoy and be safe.

Looks good, love the mid-range power and it's awesome to see no loss of torque downstairs. Assuming that the lower dyno graph was your car completely stock prior? I agree with some of those figures but not exactly since one doesn't need to do headers to reach similar power or spend 4k. Best bang for the buck is HPtuner tune and high flow cat pipe for 2K cost (install is free since it's beyond easy to do) which will get someone near 584-600 rwhp, that is like 40-50 extra RWHP for 2k! Just sharing this since I did an HPTune and high flow cat's which made a huge improvement for little cost. Though I want more like you and have been on the fence of doing heads and cam, I just don't see spending 20K to get me an extra 50 RWHP. The next option would be 9.0l which I'm wondering if you looked into as well. This can't be a cheap option either but should be around 750 rwhp. Lastly, my apologies, not trying to poop poo your thread, seriously your setup is bad ass and I'd take it over mine for sure any day! Congrats again!

I don't know the exact cost of the 9.0, but I believe it is north of $25k. I'm sure someone will chime in. They make fantastic power, but I just wasn't interested in changing motors. My goal was a nice bump with no driveability issues, not a maxed out number.

Prefix was kind to share the build info on my car when the previous owner had it done and in total it was approaching $40K for the 9.0L build. You're going to love the increase in power to your TA and I agree with you about the numbers..... Who cares about numbers. What matters is the smile on your face when you're driving and having fun. I'd say your Viper will be a perfect set up when done. The guy who had mine prior put all this money into the car and then sold it with only 1900 miles on the odometer. While I can't confirm his real intentions, it was alluded to me that the car scared him after the 9.0 set up was completed. I have taken my time to get acquainted with the car over the past 2500 miles since April when I bought it and we now have a deep respect/understanding for each other. I know this car's behavior and the limit in which the extra HP can and should not be used. Looking forward to a drive soon!

The car get's picked up tomorrow, but I am driving down tonight so I can be there first thing tomorrow morning to go over everything. But there is one last change.

Vengeance has not really been in favor of not changing the intake system. I told them that popular opinion in the Viper world was that they didn't make a difference; although pdv25 I believe swore by his, and he had arguably the fastest exhaust/tuned Viper on the forum. They want to see for themselves what a different intake will do. So they are going to install one today, retune and re-dyno on their dime. I'll let everyone know if there is any change--good or bad.

I guess it can't hurt to find out what the difference in output will be with and without the intake upgrade. Especially if it is on their dime and insurance if anything goes wrong. Maybe they will discount the intake for you if you change your mind since it is already on the car.

That's my logic. If I could get 2hp and 5ftlb of torque, I'm good

Geez....the K&N intake gave me a whopping 2hp and 1ftlb of torque over stock. That's it. I sure would have thought that the stock intake was restricting the additional air flow of the heads, but it doesn't. They had no CEL issues with it, but the experts here were right. Really no benefit at all, other than looking good.

Good info. When you consider the probability of increased IAT and lack of ram air effect with the K&N it would likely lose power in the real world. Congratulations on an awesome build! Enjoy

Hi Doug! Thanks for getting that fuse box shield out so quickly. It is scheduled to be delivered today. Just in time for the arrival of the car!

Couple of Foum members, including PDV25 on his HC ACRE tested the KN PANEL Filter in the STOCK air box and picked up 8-10 rwhp.
The KN intake with dual cones sucks hot air and looks like that is the one you tried. Was the test done with Open or closed hood?

I went to Vengeance this morning to see and drive the car. I felt like I was in the lion's den with all the Corvettes, Camaros and Cadillacs. But as soon as they started the Viper, she held her own.

I know there are some skeptics out there about spending $15K - $20K for 100rwhp, but I am here to tell you, this car is an absolutely different animal over stock. Honestly, I don't know that I would want any more power. Everything about the power band is better; obviously it comes faster. I can see though that the R888's are going to have trouble grabbing. The best part is that I sacrificed nothing. I drove the car for about 30 minutes and it simply ran the way it should, which is exactly what I expected. Furthermore, that glorious sound. I'm quite certain I had a permagrin plastered to my face for the entire 4 hour drive home, and I didn't drive it home! It is absolutely fantastic.

I have to thank Ron and David for their hospitality today and helping me through this process. I was probably that "pain in the ass" customer, but David kept pace with the barrage of emails that I sent without flinching. They are just fantastic guys with an incredible shop right here in the southeast. Christmas will be here at about 7:30 tonight!

No problem thanks again! You might check out green filter but I can help with K&N panel filter if you go that route.

Just wanted to stop in here as well after commenting on the other thread, but it was certainly a pleasure working with you on the build and glad that we could meet your expectations not only in performance but the quality of the work and tuning as well. We look forward to the next one with you and hope to see some of the other members here in the future I hope that you and the wife have a great weekend with the new monster!

Drove the car this morning over to my Viper tech so he could activate my upgraded 18 speaker stereo. With the motor work being done, I had just about forgotten that I had added the speakers prior to taking it to Vengeance. I know some have reported problems getting those subs to work, but he plugged his little doodad into the OBDII port and 20 seconds later, all speakers worked. The car is now complete.
