Compatible Wheels for Gen II

Hello! I apologize in advance if there is another post on this topic. For the life of me, couldn't find anything under the "Tire , Wheel, Brake and Suspension" category, nor in here under the advance search fuction.

I would like to know if any Gen II owners have swapped out their stock wheels for an after-market set that has more tire options, especially for the Michelin Super Sports? I just got my Pirelli P-Zero Rossos (thank you Jon B @ PartsRack) installed and have no complaints so far; however, I'd like to have more options available to me when it comes time to change the Rossos out in the distant future.

I have Stop Tech big brakes in front (not sure on size as previous owner had it installed) and a Paxton centrifugal supercharger (also installed by previous owner) so not sure if that limits the wheel types/sizes I can use.

Any 335-355 rear tire will fit. Most will upgrade to a Gen 3-5 wheel for better tire options. Usually cheaper and better looking than the old 17-18" wheels.

I've got forgestar F14's on my car. They are in the Gen5 size/offset. Fits great and I don't have to worry about tire availability (yet at least).

I've changed wheels sizes for that very reason...so I could run Michelin PSS. Best all around tire IMO.
If you go 345/30-19 rear, it'll be fairly tight in the fender well if you're lowered. Stock ride height, no problemo.

I bought a set of these GenV F14s for my Gen2 as well in 19/20, but haven't gone past opening the boxes. Do you have any issues with the gen5 offset on the gen2? Local guys here run a 3/4" spacer to correct the offset in the rear and the fronts are really aggressive...almost sticking out of the fenders. Has this been your experience too?

I can’t recommend making the jump to 19s enough. Fills the wheel wells, more tire options than you can shake a stick at and gets rid of the awful 4x4 stance. Look at the difference between GenII ACR wheels and GenV ACR wheels. F2DA3FE1-C153-4776-B785-45848622C2C4.jpg

Are you using rear wheel spacers to fit those GenV wheels on your Gen2? Extended reach lug nuts? Do the fronts stick out of the fender/hood area? Post some pics on the car if possible please. Thanks

No spacers, extended lug nuts or anything of that nature. I do have GenIV ACR brakes so that may affect fitment slightly. The fronts are getting mounted today. Had to wait for the ceramic coating to cure.

Not sure why they are using spacers. I bolted them up just fine. Here are some pics of how the sit on the car with my crappy phone (you'd thing a Galaxy S10 would do better...). Car is on BC coilovers with about a 1.5 inch drop.

Thank you all for the input, definitely enlightening! As soon as I chew through the PZ Rossos, I'll definitely be looking at 19" wheels.

Follow up question: Anyone has the Gen II 18" OE wheels (see below)? If your clear-coat is chipped in places, what have you done to mitigate/maintain the c.c. on the wheel from spreading? The highways/freeways here in California is so bad and always under construction, I am not surprised the wheels have been getting pelted. I try to avoid bad roads as much as possible.

*Note: These were the tires/wheels I picked up the GTS in. I'll post some with the new PZ Rossos on when I wash up the wheel.

Gen 1 car that I added the Gen 2 wheels right away, recently purchased aftermarket Jongbloed racing wheels 19/18 (easier for tires) purchased 345/30/19s and 275/35/18s all Nitto for less than $1000 new, only problem is the car needs to be lowered a bit in my opinion with the 19s in the rear, ordering BC coilovers for this...IMG_20191004_163358853.jpg

Just chiming in on the cc stripping/polishing on the alloys, frankly I think you get more "milky" look with the clear, the alloy is richer to me without the clear and polished, both my stock wheels and those Jongbloeds were cleared and the Jongbloeds were also machined... stripped with oven cleaner as they were anodized clear... started with 500, 1200 and then 2000 before polishing, they both need little upkeep polishing and the Jongbloeds are a harder allot so they stay looking nice with very little maintenance

I did the same thing on my stock 18 in rims. Stripping the CC was pretty easy.

Looks awesome, I have Gen4 brakes on my Gen2 as well, and I'd like to show them off. May we please see some pics from the front or rear of the car to highlight offset? I think the front ACR wheels are wider than the regular GenV and the rear offset is about 1/2" off from Gen1-4. Just like to see the offset difference (without spacers) on a Gen2 GTS before buying $5K in wheels.

I'm glad I joined the forums. Great looking Vipers and awesome discussions! Beats my daily driver's forums (will post about it in the appropriate section of the forums in the near future).

As for current upkeep, soapy water seems to have kept it fairly good with the CC thats on it at the moment. (thank you again @Jon!. Being that the roads in my area and places I like to travel have terrible road conditions, I would like to keep the CC as a layer of protection.
