    Gen 2 Viper GTS

I have a gen 2 gts that was involved in a minor wreck in Michigan. While the car was repaired, the fit and finish for the rear driver side panel has a small gap that the shop is unable to correct. In addition, I’ve contacted three other local shops and nobody’s willing to take on the challenge due to their unfamiliarity with this car.

Can anyone recommend a local shop in the Detroit area or in northern Ohio?

I would suggest that you call Steve at Autoform in Holland, MI.

Pretty sure that panel is glued on. And if it was removed or replaced during the repair, and then put back on out of alignment, I would suspect the corrective action is to remove it and reglue it again. Which might also include replacing and repainting it one more time. No wonder nobody wants to fix it. But I'd file a claim against the shop that did the work to begin with. Tell your insurance carrier as well.

    Dave,

You are absolutely correct. Not only did I talk to the insurance company, they had no problem. Only issue now is finding someone that is willing to work on the car. Fortunately, Steve may be willing to perform the work. I will call him a call tomorrow.

Quarter panels are 100% bolted/riveted on....and adjustable with shims. The roof panel is installed/glued-on with silicone body adhesive.

The factory body construction manual does state the use of sealant. Which will function as an adhesive when trying to remove or adjust the panel.

Agh....mine must've been built on a Friday. No sealant...just some foam strips. 2001 GTS

I just adjusted my Pass-side quarter panel last week...gap was a little weird. I also installed floating nut-plates into the tub for future ease of adjustment.

Prefix might be another shop to look at in the Detroit area (Auburn Hills).

    SRT_BluByU,

Ironically I took it to the dealership you are referring to in Auburn Hills. While they used to have quite a bit of experience with Dodge Vipers, they were one of the companies that refused the job. Fortunately, I was able to talk to Steve from Autoform and after describing the issue, he was confident he could resolve the issue. I have plans to tow my car up there later this month.

    Thanks All
