T A 2 0 to ACR E

Hey guys,

Recently bought a competition blue (#8/32) T/A 2.0 and now I find myself pricing out the conversion to an acr-e. I'm going to send the car to Calvo for a TT kit so its never going to remain a collector car, but I'm trying to figure out of it makes more sense to sell it or spend the 20k+ on the conversion. The suspension will be changed to dsc in the build, so the downforce of the wing isn't something I am worried about.

One potentially stupid question I had is I know the ACR and ACR-E has a different diffuser curvature to accommodate for the strakes, even though the regular ACR doesn't use them. Does anyone know if the T/A 2.0 has the same diffuser as the ACR + trim or the GT down trim?

Carbon ceramic brakes have never necessarily been my thing so I won't miss them if I do the conversion, but besides that is there anything else I'd be missing (minus the suspension, because it will be swapped for dsc) if I got the kit from xtreme? I bought the APR carbon fender gills too and planned to a "pappy style" install with a nice clean cut.

Am I foolish for considering hacking up a numbered car? Would it be smarter to try and sell this as is and move in to an acr-e? Does anyone here who has an acr-e ever wish they got something more streetable, and if so any interest in a trade?

Sorry for all the newbie questions, but its my first viper and I'm excited to start dipping my foot into customization. I came from a drag gt-r (2000whp) and I'm not looking to drag myself down the rabbit hole of never ending bullshit I did on that platform! Figured ask questions first and spend money later is a better plan of attack this time, yet I say that while owning a car I'm already considering trading!

Money is absolutely an issue! I'm just going for a baby build haha.

My guess is that it would be cheaper to start with an ACR-E. The Wing, rear ACR-E diffuser (different than a TA2), and front splitter are expensive. You plan on changing the shocks so no problem there. There are also ACR brake ducts you could add. Cutting the hood, while it has been done, would be a high risk operation for me. Besides a numbered Comp Blue TA 2 is a beautiful car in its own right. Why hack it up? I had a 2015 Comp Blue TA 2 #4 before upgrading to my ACR/TA-E. I do miss that car.

I agree with just getting an ACR-E. Also if you never track the car, the carbon brakes will outlast steel rotor setup. Carbon rotors are lighter too, for me that is a huge plus. And the bling bling factor of large brakes. LOL

$23k seems low. The Front PANEL ASSEMBLY Splitter #68287940AC alone is over $8k.

I mean, e-mail xtreme and get their price list. its $20,000 for the full extreme aero kit. Their extreme wing is actually lighter than OEM

If you are asking now, you already know the right answer. I think you are more likely to regret not getting an ACR than the other way around. If an ACR is on the wish list, that is a scratch that will eventually need scratching.

Sorry, but listen to all the established Viper Owners , just get an ACR-E. You will spend way beyond the actual cost of an ACR trying to convert, as the cost of all the parts is extremely substantial. Save yourself some time and frankly you may find after acquiring , you do not need a lot of upgrades to the motor ---- there is a distinct reason the car set so many track records!

You would be a goddamn fool to hack up a real TA2 to turn into an ACR. Not only is it cost prohibitive all youll end up with is a Frankenstein Viper that definitely wont have all the ACR components and it will be worth significantly less than a base Viper when you get bored of it in 2 years.

Hey if you're in Colorado why aren't you in our club??? We have an active club with really great events. Long road trips (think California, Canada, etc), track stuff, shooting range, BBQs, escape rooms, car museums, and waaaay more. In fact I'm the local membership director. Our President lives in Conifer. Quite a few ACR-Es in the region. Please join, it is cheap and you won't regret it. Plus you get the VOA Quarterly magazine and besides it costs the club money to run this website, it can always use more dues paying members. PM me your contact info and I'll try to get you our calendar of events soon. I'm in the hospital today for some surgery so it may take a while though.

I do have a club friend that just got his 2016 TA2 back from Prefix last night. He had them do the 9L Extreme upgrade. Not cheap though. He has two TAs, a 2014 TA1 in TA Orange and the 2016 TA2 in Y'Orange. He got a good deal on the TA2 and decided on the upgrade it instead of doing an ACR. But then again he didn't do the full aero conversion to an ACR which would have been very much more expensive.

No way! Small world. I often see an older red viper with yellow wheels and just recently have seen a competition blue acr-e with red driver stripe. I'll PM you my info. Just got the thing, wasn't too sure of how to find the clubs.

What package? What upgrades? Exactly the rabbit hole I was looking to avoid haha. I thought I'd be set with the cm1300 and dsc suspension.

The plastic diffuser is the same for all Vipers so an ACR-E diffuser will bolt on to any Gen V (with drilling and rivnuts installed)

I’d just get an ACR-E if it was me.

What will you be using the car for? If you want a sequential, pull the trigger now. It can come fast or it can take a while (from Australia). BTW there are new drag wheels out from Belak/Zen. Check them out of VOA on FB, they look beautiful.

Just small stuff here and there. Got the carbon fiber belly pan. Added the ACR-e replica wing (visible CF, looks so good). Got the sequential transmission. Considering ordering the CF seats ($2k a piece). Going to order some more CF goodies. etc.
