Gen 5 Rear Diffuser Install Instructions

    Hi team,

I am looking for instructions on removing my Gen 5 rear diffuser and installing a new one. I can reach the fastners on the bottom and inner side bumpers pretty easily but looks like i can't get my wrench on the fastners that are on the inner rear of the bumper. Is there specific instructions on how to do this before I do something stupid and bend / break the bumper? I tried searching for it but didn't come up with specific instructions for it. Please point me in the right direction if you can.

    Thanks!

Regarding the rear applique, on mine ('16 ACR) the rear applique is connected to tail light housings by small fasteners. Not sure if this is the same across all Gen V's. If pulling the rear applique be careful not to break off these fasteners. Not sure if this is needed for bumper removal but good luck.

What, exactly, are you trying to remove?

The diffuser tunnels and blades only? Or the whole rear undertray? That tray only needs to come out if you've damaged it or installing a diffuser on a car that didn't come from the factory with one.

I made this thread a couple years ago. Maybe something helpful in there? https://driveviper.com/forums/thread...-a-Non-ACR-Car

I have damaged my existing rear diffuser and i have a replacement ready at hand. Looks like I will have to remove the rear bumper and tail light surround.

    Ah!! Sorry to hear that!

Yes then. The rear fascia needs to come off. It and the tailpan will pull off as one unit. There are two large electrical connectors on the passenger side that you'll need to unplug. They're easy to get to once the inner fender liners have been removed. Get a friend and a nice soft place to set the thing, as it wants to twist a lot and you don't want to scratch up the car trying to put it back on by yourself.

I don't have my strakes installed and have been debating the livability of this amazing feature, out of curiosity how did you damage it?

Due to, I'm assuming, the lower spring rates of non-ACR vs. ACR suspension, my car will bounce off a dip or bump and smack the diffuser on the ground. Usually, "Race" mode will prevent this.

I tells ya, I've graded gravel roads, sliced roadkill, and banged that thing so hard on the ground it made my teeth rattle, and it's been nothing but some wear on the bottom of the extensions, as designed. I'm astounded I've not broken anything.
