    New car and new name!

    Hello,

I have posted on this forum a few times as an enthusiast and have been a huge Viper fan for the past 14 years (since my best friend bought a red 97 GTS in 2000). I used to post under the name former345bhpLS1 (used to have a Vette - sold a while ago).

On Monday, I bought a new 2013 Red SRT Viper with the TrackPack. The car is beautiful and AMAZING to drive. I bought the car in Southern California while on vacation and drove home to Northern California with the family yesterday. I have put 700 miles on the car in the past two days (had to break it in right) and absolutely love this thing.

I fell in love with the 97 GTS and this car is such a worthy successor and everything that I loved about the 97 is still part of this car. Plus they fixed everything that I would have upgraded if I'd bought a Gen2 (big brakes, lightweight flywheel, more power, better exhaust, brake ducting, reduced weight by ~150 lbs, etc).

This car is the culmination of 14 years of dreaming and reality is still surpassing all of my expectations. I even rented a SRT Viper last August and was completely smitten with that car. Yet, somehow this one is even better than I remembered.

I hope to touch base with some of the NorCal Viper owners for events, try to get back with the car community after many years on hiatus. The Viper community is a big part of the car's appeal - real car people.

I have attached a few iPhone pictures, taken in Malibu an hour after purchase. I bought from Scott Robinson in Torrance. Small dealer, but excellent customer service and a great experience. Thely also gave me an amazing deal. Actually, the last Gen2 that I test drove (in 2001 - ACR with stripes) had a higher MSRP than what I paid. There are some amazing deals out there at the moment.

My daughter also took her first ride today. She is 4-1/2 and the car takes her car seat without any trouble. She loves it and it makes for extra-fun daddy-daughter time.

    Have a good evening.

    Best,

    Nick

    Nick,

I remember your review of the Viper after you rented it, I was impressed how you nailed it- the Viper's raw character and the passion it stirs in one's soul. Congrats man! You're fortunate to live in the NorCal region, we have some pretty awesome events planned. I'm helping plan a couple of tracking events, one at the new 5-mile Thunderhill course, and one at Sonoma. Plenty of off-track events planned as well, it's a fun group. We should be watching the GTS-R and GT3-R Vipers race at Laguna Seca from a track-side SRT Hospitality Suite as well. Good times ahead.

Congrats Nick! I'd suggest a more generic username that can be carried on for years, instead of to one specific vehicle.

Congrats, great Viper! It's awesome how a car can evoke such emotion in someone that you can sense it through words on a computer screen! ENJOY!

Congrats and soon that listing will say member instead of enthusiast ---- nice to be an owner after your long journey of desire. The wait was worth it though, wasn't it?!

Congrats, beautiful car. Some of the best times in my life have been in my car with my daughter. She is 13 and loves driving in the Viper. She also loves going to the track and Viper club events with me.

Congratulations on your new ride. It's an awesome snake. I would urge you to join the VOA NorCal Region. They are a very active region and have an outstanding variety of events. Something for everyone. The bond between father and daughter just became stronger and the memories will last a lifetime. Ask me how I know.

Todd, that sounds awesome! Now I just need to get my rear window replaced. Small volume car and things will happen...

I am still in love with the car, just need to sort out a birth defect.

Thank you to all for the warm welcome and it is a privilege to now be part of the community.

To Bill Pemberton (real celebrity of the Viper community!), yes it was absolutely worth the wait.

How long does it take to source parts for something like this?

Looking Good!! Reading your post and seeing your photos reminded me of our first new Viper, back in the G2 days. We left the show room with my sons car seat installed.. Toddy Jr. and I had fun driving our GTS home for the first time together..

Enjoy your new Viper, and see you around here up north at one of the events or meetings...

Congrats on your new car! She's a beauty. Welcome to the club and enjoy your new Viper.

I'm very jealous that you are able to enjoy the car with your daughter. I have a 2 year old son (and another baby boy on the way) who loves cars already but is too young to take in the car just yet. Really looking forward to taking him on his first drive in the car in a couple years and watching his face light up.

    Congratulations Nick. Great purchase!

Bill, how much did you have to pay him for that glowing endorsement?

Right on Jonathan. May and I went last year. You would not believe the location of the SRT Hospitality Suite. Near turn 3, great view of the track action. Also, dinner with the drivers the night before. I talked with Kuno for a solid hour, he was at my end of the table! Note sure what the plan is this year, but I think it should be similar.
